You didn't ask me but... oh well...

    For me it's eeew

Been using Reason ever since version 4 (rewired into Live) but even though I own an 11 license I am staying put on 10. Now, don't get me wrong here: despite my negative opinion I have to admit that the product in itself is solid enough, enjoyable, good collection of instruments and effects (as always I might add) and there's even a nice tread with the "suite" version which is packed with a ton of awesome Propellerhead, duh: Reason studios developed rack extensions ("Reason plugins").

But for me its utterly lackluster to say the least. If you're used to Reason stand-alone (even rewired) then the plugin is a joke. It just doesn't add up to the Reason workflow. No players, no sequencer, you can't even press <del> to remove devices (something easily done in NI VST's (here's looking at you Guitar Rig! :D)). Not to mention pressing tab to flip the rack (I'm somewhat addicted to that).

Another huge issue (for me as an SSD user) is that the Reason vst is basically a 2nd copy of the Reason 11 program folder. An exact copy with the plugin added. In other words: you get 2 installed 'versions' of Reason 11 while you're effectively only using one. To add insult to injury you can't tell the Reason installer that you want to install the vst (or anything else really) to another location. This is also where my 'joke' comment comes from. I have 400+ Gb of Komplete data (so: data from a dozen different devices) nicely tucked away on my D drive but I can't tell 1 single DAW to put its library onto that same D drive as well, so now I'm looking at 30Gb worth of library + rack extension data on C (eating away precious SSD space) because... "because". Reason?

Reason itself is an awesome environment and being able to use Komplete inside Reason is definitely something else indeed.

But not being able to use Reason with other DAWs in the way I want to (=ReWire) killed the whole vibe for me. I am staying put on Reason 10. Probably for a very long time to come.

True story: Reason 11 made me jump onto the Komplete 12 bandwagon because as a dedicated Live + Reason user I saw no future for upcoming Reason versions in my setup anymore (Reason 11 did away with Rewire so you're stuck with that VST). With Maschine + Komplete otoh.... I don't see NI abandoning the interaction with Live (or any other DAW for that matter) anytime soon.

Well, they sort of do. Few months before the new version of that HW hits the market.

I am guessing 50% off regular prices for mach expansions and maybe vsts. Arturia is the one to beat from last year's BF sales.

That's a permanent price drop, not a temporary discount tho. I think.

In that case there's no reason to rush, one might as well wait for the new HW to be released to decide if it might fit you better, i really hate when i buy something and 2 months later there's another better version of it.

This time I expect a Thanksgiving XXL sale, like in 2017. All the products 50% OFF + Komplete bundle updates/upgrades 50% OFF as well.

That's right. But the buyer does not know it is not temporary, but permanent. It is advertised as discount, not price drop. At least at non NI e-shops.

And non NI e-shops have discounts on NI hardware from time to time. Not huge, but 5-15% also counts. And althought I do not have any proof for that, I have the feeling that it is unoficiall discount by NI, not discount by e-shops. But as I say, that is just my feeling and I might be wrong.

I think NI has never given discount on full versions of SW in past several years. Maybe on few "minor" plugins, but not on flagships like Traktor, Komplete, Reaktor, Kontakt,...

    That is incorrect. https://www.kvraudio.com/news/native-instruments-half-price-thanksgiving-sale-43205
A ton of users grabbed Komplete upgrades for half price that do come with full version software users might not have, they just dont do it for a single software specifically.

That is what I said. NI makes sales on Upgrades/Updates/Crossgrades and Expansions. But not full versions of core products. But one may buy cheap base product (say Komplete 12 Select) for full price and Upgrade for highly reduced price. The result is almost the same as if the full version was discounted, but the buyer must use his head and study Upgrade/Update conditions.

I do not remember NI would sell full versions of Komplete, Reaktor, Kontakt and Traktor with any discount. If they did, my memory forgot it. :)

Yes, you always have to do the math yourself to see if it makes sense or not.
Yeah, I dont think so either, but a full version might be included in an Upgrade depending on what you currently have and the upgrade itself, that's what I meant.

    I hear ya!

I use Reason 11 as a DAW exclusively, since version 1 so I'm a huge fan. I dabbed in Logic and Cubase a bit, but since Record came out, i've been always going back to REason as a main with the hopes that it would become a more solid DAW, which do this day is a lot more groundbreaking that what is used to be. Of course, Reason DAW is very unique and different that other DAWS ( pro tools, live, logic, etc), but i"ve grown to like it and get used to it that I use it exclusively now.

Now, I also have Maschine, love the thing. I sometimes even just use MAschine standalone, or as a plugin in Reason. But lately, with MAschine MK3, I wanted the ability to use the Maschine arpegio and chord features with reason instruments, but I Cant. Even as a plug in it is very limited.

I guess I Wait for Reason to update their VST to allow beter MIDI in/out within VST as well as audio I/O , or NI get VSt3 working so I can load my rack extensions into maschine and play along.... but so far nothing. I Do here NI is working on VST3 so that is something. Nothing on the Reason end for improvements on their VST I/O changes.

If its gonna be a black friday sale internet people need to get with the TRUE idea of it and put REAL objects on sale for like %50 off! None of this BS plugins for$10 (I'll take 10 though if thats what you got).

I mean a lot of foreign companies try to jump on the Thanksgiving, Black friday, Fourth of July band wagons but they forget to do their research and find out what the true spirit of christmas is all about! GIVING. LOL .

Ive seen sales from Waves with European terminology slipped in and its a freaking joke.

Does Moog have a boxing day sale? I don't think so.. or maybe they do IDK but..

Don't jump on the more sales bandwagons with out holding true to what our greedy a$$ traditions are all about lol.

    Real Talk though.

Put real objects on sale not downloads.

(BTW ill take some downloads too if you got them.)

Wrong. I can't back up my statement with links at the time of writing but I got Absynth 5 with a huge discount during the holiday season several years ago. Same goes for The Finger, The Mouth and Guitar Rig 5.

The Arturia reductions look tempting! Didn't see it that low though.
