    Hello,
I just purchased the bosendorfer 290 for windows software. I'm having a strange problem. After I record a piano track or sometimes recording a few tracks after that, I can hear a piano note when I release the key. So if I hold a key down on my keyboard controller for 5 seconds when I release it I hear faintly that same note played as if I were tapping it. If I reload the patch it corrects it. Other than that the sound quality is fantastic.

I've tried adjusting all the direct to disk parameters and some of the setup options but nothing seems to work. I've installed the latest update and that didn't correct it either. I've also tried different patches with and without effects but I get the same result.

    I'm using sonar 7.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks
    Nic

    Hi Nic
I've been having a similar intermittant problem. I believe its to do with the release samples on the PMI Bosendorfer 290 being played too loudly. Kontakt should play the release sample progressively quiter the longer the note is held, however this does not happen resulting in a annoying click.

I contacted NI who said this is a bug which will be addressed in the next update.

In the meantime I've loaded one of the instruments with no release samples.

I notice this thread has been moved. I assumed you were using the PMI Bosendorfer 290 sample library in Kontakt 3 which is what I am using. Are you using this or the East West Virtual Instrument.

I'm using the East West Virtual Instrument. Hopefully your suggestion will apply to myself as well. I will give it a try tonight.

Using the patches with the release samples disabled did the trick! Thanks!

I really didn't hear much of a difference between the ones with and without the release samples.

It looks like i'm out of luck with getting any support for the kompakt player which has been discontinued.

I'm going to give the Kontakt 3 demo a try, maybe I will get the crossgrade for $250.

Are you happy with the Kontakt sampler?

Anyway I'm happy to have that problem resolved.

    Thanks again.

The Kontakt 3 sampler is fine apart from the aforementioned release sample bug, which they say will be fixed. I mainly bought it for the sample library which in the couple of weeks I've been able to audition and play with the instruments sound very good. The 32 GB libary seemed to take forever to install however (6 disks taking over an hour each).

I feel I've only scratched the surface of the samplers functionality and it tooke me a while to get my head around how it worked.

You may want to vary the output latency.
    File/Setup/Soundcard/Output Latency.
Try 10 ms or play with the settings until you find one that works. Too low a setting results in the key sounds you were talking about.
