Firstly, I'd like to say that i'm new to Traktor and to the forum so hi to you all.

As mentioned above i'm new to Traktor and have recently started the rather time consuming task of beatgridding all my tunes and this is where my first query arises.

I have noticed that it has been mentioned on this forum as well as in other tutorials that if a BPM is say at 125.876 it is usually taken as being 126.000. Does it matter if the BPM is not rounded up to 126.000 and is beatgridded as Traktor analyzes it (i.e. at 125.876). The reason I ask is that I have beatgridded a couple of tunes like this and have then synced them to a tune at say 128.000 and they seem to stay synced ok. Hopefully it is ok like this.

Its just that rounding them up is playing absolute havoc with me as the grids all shift and i'm at that stage where im still not 100% sure how to fix it.

Is anybody able to shed any light on this please ?

    Many thanks in advance.

I don't round the number. Some tracks really are 125.875 for whatever reason. Rounding it will throw it off. Of course, no problem rounding 125.990 to 126.000, but there is no need.

    Thanks for the reply.

I wasn't too sure if I had to round it up/down etc. Glad to know that it doesn't make any difference overall.

That will make my life a whole lot easier, but its still gonna take ages to to beatgrid all my tunes. Oh the joys.

Might have to give that a try, but then my beatgrids probably would end up all over the place.

I did a beatgrid tutorial and video that might help you do things faster, with or without the beer: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWaxqUBlM48"]YouTube- Traktor Pro Beatgrids Revisited[/ame]

Everything sounds spot on with beer. Just make sure you and your listeners always have it on board when mixing.

Rasmuffin is correct; it always works better this way. If you find your are not getting the results you need with beer you are probably just not using enough of it.

Don't overthink it. If the grid is right along the track there's no need to change the tempo, if the grid is off, I recommend to use Mixmeister BPM analyzer to find the proper tempo and copy it to Traktor, then set the beat marker at the first beat of the track, if that doesn't work and the grid is still off, you have probably an inconsistent tempo track that can't be beatmatched in Traktor, so you better don't play it or warp it in Ableton.

You can still play it in Traktor. Just don't push sync. ;)
(Or, just sync a loop that is consistant in tempo)

I recorded some of my old vinyl to MP3 so I could play them with Traktor but I'm finding it impossible to beat grid them. No matter what I do, some part of the track is out. I also tried the suggestion to use Mixmeister BPM to get the BPM first but although it would get me closer it didn't make the problem go away.

Is it because I might have a drifty deck? Is there any way to ensure better recordings when going from vinyl to digital?

Your best bet is to warp them in Ableton to ensure a constant tempo.
