Just got my brand new maschine off zzsounds and was extremely excited to use it. I then plugged it in and got a little flash of power on it and then it turned off. I thought hmmm maybe I just need to activate my account/install the software/register. So I did all that and then tried plugging it in again and again and again. Same thing every time, just a slight flash or maybe it will light all the pads and then turn off. I have a pretty new macbook pro and both usb ports work with other things, I've also tried plugging the maschine in with a different cord and in both usb spots. I've read a little into it and installed all the newest stuff and have everything downloaded from the service center.

Can someone pelase help? I'm bugging out because I just dropped nearly $600 on this thing. I dont know if its a broken maschine or my computer, but if it is the maschine, I don't know if I should send it back to NI or to ZZsounds. I'm 15 years old and have been waiting for this thing for awhile now and this is real disappointing. I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me where to go from here.

How's the USB connection on Maschine itself? Loose?

its supposed to flash like that twice before you can use it, but im a pc so youll have to wait for a mac to come along with a fresh idea. its not broken however.

Possibly the stupidest question ever but for some reason this came to mind. You are clicking on the screen icon when trying to launch maschine, yes?

Sorry, I know it's probably a stupid question.

Oh I had another suggestion. I wonder if you could hold down shift+control on maschine and get it into midi mode. Again, just thinking of various ideas......

First thing to always do out of the box is to run Maschine as an independent controller and not in your DAW as a plug in. This is only required once at start up.

The installation process on a Mac is

    1. Install software from the supplied DVD.

    2. Restart Computer

    3. You may need to activate the control centre to update the software to latest version (remember the newer versions contain significant feature upgrades not just bug fixes)

    4. Connect Controller via USB and Start Software in Stand alone mode (i.e. just Maschine not as a plug in in a DAW)

Things to check if this doesnt work

Latest Software versions are being used.

Try 32 and 64 bit mode.

Try a different USB (are you using a HUB) use the Mac direct USB sockets, although from experience Maschine usually works ok from a Hub if its powered as Maschine hardware is powered by the USB.

I have the new quad core 2.3 macbook pro. My maschine does the exact same thing unless I boot in 32 bit mode.

Thanks guys. I uninstalled my maschine software and then re-installed it (twice) and I got it to work. But still the maschine isnt all that responsive when I plug it in (meaning it doesnt always turn on right when I plug it in.) I usually have to unplug and replug it in a few times and close some applications before I can get it to work. I have a feeling google chrome is a reason for my mac not to pick up the maschine. Does anyone run google chrome on their mac while plugging in their maschine? I only assume this because sometimes when I have it open the maschine wont turn on, and when I tried installing maschine it said to close google chrome.

[Resolved] Maschine Controller turning on then off

Ok - got mine working again!

Note: my USB port on the Maschine has always been loose but always worked fine. I made the mistake of using a fine point object to try and move the internal connections within the port thinking they were not making contact properly. This was not the case and I ended up breaking off the centre plastic part which devides the copper connectors! I super glued it back in and this fixed it good

I believe the issue was iTunes in my case. I did a system restore back to before I installed this and this instantly resolved the issue! I may have installed some other VSTs between then and now however I still feel this was the culprit!

Try restoring back to before the issue occurred and you should be able to get it working and narrow down which program is the cause of the issue.

    Hope this helps!
