    Karlos,
The mockup you did in the thread (http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=70731) is great. The software I used before Traktor, MegaSeg, had the same split window for the library & playlist. It was fantastic, because I could work with both at the same time. I've attached a screenshot of how they did it.

Yup, despite not being the software of choice for me the MegaSeg browser was the first i ever came across when i was looking into starting with Digital DJing. The Split browser is still one im in favour of.

    Me too!

I want the current playlist back. I'm still using 3.4 because of this.

Interesting, but one thing puzzels me. Preperation is to this point just a normal playlist named Preperation, right? Someone enlighten me otherwise.
I wonder... will the diamond return to appear in our chosen active playlist :), or will the "current playlist" come back fixed as "Preperation" including the diamond?

Other browser related thought: (taken and edited from thread:
"When browsing folders and tracks is there any way to hit a letter/key and jump to it?")

    Do you like?

I want to bump this and add my vote for a split browser. This would be very, very useful.

What would fantastic is if we could set a playlist as "active" & we were given back all the old functionality ("add to playlist as next/at end..."). Also that feature that would automatically load the next track in the playlist when deck A/B ends.

This has to be one of the biggest things with Pro they have yet to address.....
Playlist functions are extremely useful while Djing on the fly.
Having this current playlist function allows me to add to it and go back if i wanna play that song later in the night. Amazing how this has gotten overlook with the original build!

+ A split browser would be a nice idea to help enable deep foldersearching without interupption when at the same time switching to more often used playlists and one could easily then move tracks beetween two places in the browser. In a better scenario you could also place them exactly where you you want them to be in the right order of a list...

    (Another thread, another solution:
    http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=82035)
A split browser would be 1/2 of a solution to this one as well.

A split browser (or a split browserlist showing different places from one and the same browsertree) would bring along a problem though. There would have to be a main/primary and extra/secondary browser (or list) otherwise the favorites and some other things wouldn't work as intended. Naturally the split browser would be a prefssetting or be shown as a handle to split the browser (or list) the distance you like. If you have a big list you could also show the same list twice just for sorting the order of tracks from bottom to top.

In Traktor Pro 1.1.1 the historyarchive has returned to the gui which is good. But I must say I would rather find the "Archive" as a sub to "History" or "Plylists" than under "Explorer". Maybe "History" tchnically isn't a folder and cannot contain "Archives" or maybe NI thinks "History" is the most important one and "Archive" can be hidden in "Explorer" but i think "Explorer" shouldn't contain any type of automatic playlists (historyarchives) not corresponding to the direct structure of our filesystems. It works but it doesn't feel right.

Hmm.... i'm longing so to see in which way the diamond icon will reappear with other improvements in the next update :), can wait but the excitement is a challange, trying to stay .

    History Problem

Hi, I have used history in T3 for a long time and not had to use it until recently on TP. For some reason TP isn't saving my sessions (nml's) anywhere. Am I missing a setting which activates this feature?

Apologies if I am being silly and this has already been answered somewhere already.

    Thanks in advance

    James

Well i think split screen is the way to go. Not only would you have the functionality of adding to current playlist by command but also logical to just drag tracks over.

also to accommodate the space for a split screen without sacrificing any current layouts. Could have icons to link to any playlist with the function of draging tracks to icons also. i'm not talkin bout the current crates that takes a good chunk out of the screen. cause for me at least i don't need to see explorer, audio recordings, history, itunes. cause i can already setup a collection location in settings. n the icons would of course lite up to let you know that icon is the active one in view.

    Please back Current Playlist

I have to chime in as well. I was having issues with Traktor, and figured I'd upgrade to Pro, and I am completely lost without my Current Playlist.

All I do is take requests. I constantly tossed songs into the Current Playlist, and then shuffled them around to play. It's how I worked. It seems like you are trying to become iTunes like.

I constantly used the add to current playlist next and last functions. I did that all day long, and then went to the Current Playlist and sorted things out. It was fast and easy. I HATE this new configuration. If you want to change workflow, add to it, don't eliminate what people have become completely dependant up.

I've got a gig for this entire weekend, Friday, Sat and Sun.

I've got to go back to 3.4 and hope it works. This is crap.

You can still create a manual playlist and use a hotkey to add tracks to it.

No - it doesn't work when you are searching while the Playlist is playing.

    Traktor changes the playlist.

    That's because you're hitting enter...

If you add tracks and are searching the 'current playlist', just type the criteria and don't hit enter.

Hitting enter invokes a search of the entire Track Collection.

There is a focus bug where it will jump to a position higher up in the playlist you're working with but it won't change in the newer version, (1.1.1).

Once again, whichever playlist you are working with and want to perform a search, just type in the info but don't hit enter.

I Hate This New Version Of Playlists

I can't say it loud enough, or harsh enough.

I HATE THIS NEW VERSION OF THE PLAYLIST. IT ABSOLUTELY SUCKS FOR MY PURPOSES.

I WANT MY OLD CURRENT PLAYLIST BACK.

I am trying to get set up for my weekend gig, and I am wasting so much time.

In the old days, I would do a search for an artist, have my hotkey set up for add to current playlist, and just select items from the list and bang away at E for end of the current playlist.

When done, I neaten up the playlist and I am set.

Now I have to drag ever damn thing, and hope I put it into the right playlist. Did I already add that song to the playlist, who the hell knows, because my friggin' icon is gone.

And when I drag to the playlist, the search result refeshes, and doesn't bring me back to where I was in the list, but to the top again, and I have to waste time scolling back down to the bottom.

This is crap. I WANT THE OLD CURRENT PLAYLIST BACK. WHY DID YOU GET RID OF IT IN THE FIRST PLACE

Dude as the person who started this thread I totally see your point.
I hear you i really do. This is the subject of much debate at the moment but I would reiterate what Thomas@NI stated in the recent German translation of the 'On The Record Sessions'
"The next update will have many improvements for the preparation playlist"

I know this may still be a bit vague for you and you will appreciate that i cant reveal any information that isnt already available about the next update but take heart that i am happy with the direction of this issue.

Sorry if I sound frustrated, because I am. I waited a long time for the AK1 64 bit drivers, and finally have them working, with what looks to be a different bug with Traktor. (I've got a thread going on the AK1 forum.)

So when I spend money for Traktor Pro, and see one of my favorite functions disappear, I can't help but be reactive. Squeaky wheel get the oil.

    Peace.
