The Current Playlist was extremely convenient for all the quoted reasons, and with it I want the Right Click options of "add as Next" and "add at End" as well, because they help constructing long playlists while maintaining the possibility of a quick response. And I guess bringing back the coloured lines for the playing tracks go with that to find quickly where you actually are.

    Karlos,

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but the latest upgrade to Traktor Pro came out the other day, which I downloaded and installed.

From you last post to me you said:

Dude as the person who started this thread I totally see your point. I hear you i really do. This is the subject of much debate at the moment but I would reiterate what Thomas@NI stated in the recent German translation of the 'On The Record Sessions'
"The next update will have many improvements for the preparation playlist"

I know this may still be a bit vague for you and you will appreciate that i cant reveal any information that isnt already available about the next update but take heart that i am happy with the direction of this issue.

Well, in looking at this update, unless I am missing something, it looks like there have been no changes to the playlist functionality at all.

When can we expect an update that includes the changes you are talking about?

Ok maybe i needed to be more specific. The last 1.1.2 'update' was what is called a 'Hot Fix' not a full 'Update'

The details of the 1.1.2 update were available in the Official Update Thread:http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=72703 This Hot Fix did not include the changes to Preparation List and this wasnt listed.

You will now see that the next full update will include the changes you are looking for. This was the one i was referring to but i understand why you were expecting the changes in the 1.1.2 Hot Fix from what i posted.

Please check the Update Thread for included fixes and feature changes.

Im as anxious as you to get the Preparation List more functional so i understand your enthusiasm for this issue.

    TO MAKE THIS CLEAR....

1.2 will reintroduce the 'Current Playlist' as the Preparation List which will have the same past functionality.

What is even nicer is the Preparation List mode can be assigned to the playlist of your choice if you don't want to create a dedicated playlist.

    Check the official release thread.

    Bring Back Current Playlist please

I also really miss the old T3 current playlist. In PRO it is easy to lose track of which playlist is selected. Either bring current playlist back or give us some indication of the active playlist.

Then you could choose any playlist as the 'active' one with 'use as active playlist' popup menu option and then a browser command could be "add to active playlist" and add to "active playlist at end".

    This would be very useful.

All sorted in the next version V1.2
Be assured that everything in this thread is fixed in the next version.
    Happy Days.

[will close this as soon as v1.2 is released]

    History is already back.
Its now called Archive and is in Explorer.
Make sure you have the latest version of Traktor installed.

    Yeah i agree. However,
Im actually unlikely to use archive live. I usually use it to construct my sets whilst looking back at previous gigs. I do this before the gig so its not so important but i agree that the previous T3 History was easy to use as it was in the Traktor Browser Tree not Explorer.
In all honesty i had never used Explorer in 5 years of using Traktor until Archive was put there.

I wouldnt expect Archive to change.

So is this in the 1.2 public beta then?
If so I can't figure out how.

    Sure is Kirk .
You click on any playlist and select the option Preparation List.
Thats gives that playlist the features of the old Current Playlist.
So you can name it Current Playlist and all should be dandy.

I really miss the diamond feature that show's that you've played this track before comes in handy when you have duplicates of the same track like good version vs mobile ...

My ideal workflow is as follows:

    A. ANY TIME
    1. I use a general repository of "FAVORITES" - just the tracks I'll preferably play these days

    B. BEFORE THE GIG
    2. I store some tracks in "USE TODAY" list
    3. If need be, I prepare some specially difficult mixes with Mixmeister Fusion

    C. DURING THE GIG
    4. Whenever I have a request, I'll preview it, and IF I think i might play it at a moment, I'll add it to the "USE TODAY" list
    5. Preview tunes from "use today " list, or "favorites" list (or the general browser)
    6. Add the chosen tracks to my CURRENT playlist...
    7. ... drag into decks.
    8. When need be, switch to Mixmeister Fusion.

    Does this seem logical ?

So, what I need is the ability to seamlessly drag and drop tracks from one playlist to another, and from the preview or any "normal" deck to any playlist. And, of course, keyboard shortcuts or a midi function to add to either "USE TODAY" or "CURRENT" playlists - whatever you call them.

I don't want Traktor to automatically add anything to any list other than "history".

Just my grain of salt :)

Just adding my support for the return of "current playlist". New "preparation playlist" is a deal breaker. If I want to play a different song next (not two songs in the future) I have to load it into the preparation playlist, change to the preparation playlist, then load the track into the deck. If I just load the track (as would be done in previous versions of Traktor) then Traktor will happily pick future songs from my track collection. I don't want a misstep in workflow to cause Traktor to abandon the songs I picked and wander through my collection randomly.
