I need to be able to use the s4 to patch into an internet radio's site to broadcast live, but there are no instructions in the s4 manual on what to expect. I do see some broadcasting options in setup, but again nothing in the manual. Assuming that the internet radio guys will give me what i need, but not sure.

    Please advise....

i know there is the ability... the broadcasting section in Options has input requirments which i assume would come from the hosting site, just not sure what i need to do at this point, or what i need to ask for.

A great and free way to broadcast is with Ustream.

You can do an audio only feed or a video + audio feed.

All I do is plug in my S4 into the input of another laptop and throw the embedded code on my website to share the live stream with the masses.

Sound quality is awesome and you are allowed to stream for as long as you want. You can record your stream up to 3 hours.

If you don't have another laptop would an iPad work (regarding uStream)?

http://mixlr.com is another option. It's like ustream but was built for streaming audio so the lack of video isn't a problem.

I think it will be you need an adapter but i'm not sure if they have stereo line in adapters. Maybe something like this http://www.alesis.com/iodock

Is there truly no way the broadcast the S4 to Ustream without going from the master out to the input of your laptop, and using that as the source, thus losing your external monitoring altogether?

This is the 21st century! The century of having your cake and eating it too! Someone help me out here!

Dont even bother with this, you will not get a straight answer on this.
They will direct you to traktor bible.

I am also looking for a step by step tutorial.

Given that the S4 has two sets of outputs, I'm thinking that I should be able to go from the RCA outputs to the 1/8" input of the laptop. And then use the 1/4" outs into my monitors so I can still hear.

My big concern is that I can't find a dual 1/4" to RCA to go into my monitors that is TRS 1/4"...

....will it damage anything if I put TS (unbalanced) 1/4" cords into the balanced output of the S4?

It shouldn't. It is actually quite common to do that when connecting balanced to unbalanced.

Good question which I could never get an answer for. I do a fortnightly radio show on Mondays on www.radioactivefm.co.uk using my S4 and Nicecast. I could not use the Traktor supplied broadcasting functionality because of the output format. Nicecast (for Mac) takes the audio from the internal mix output and sends it up the the stations server, with password etc.

When it comes to broadcasting - I just hit BROADCST NOW and off I go. Probably doesn't help you but this is one area I just had to find out for myself.. What have the radio station provided to you? My station provided step by step guidance on internet speed checks, downloading software for Windows: Simplecast (No good to me though) , encoder options mp3 and mp3PRO, bitrate and sample rate settings, server port, server IP, Mount name, password etc.

I did it all externally to keep my computer's resources open for traktor, and uStream. I got a dual 1/4" to RCA going from the balanced outs on my S4 to my monitors...and then I just took an RCA to 1/8" and went from the S4's rca out to the 1/8" in on my computer...it sounds great. As long as you don't mind a few extra cables running behind everything...

Anyone can tell me if I can do the same with the S2 and windows 7, or how do I setup to broadcast on livestream, ustream or even on Mixlr please? Just can't find how to figure it.

Its easy with mixlr, but you have stream via ethernet.
Check out the mixlr website, very easy for windows and mac.

Thanks guys. It's solved for livestream with procaster. I think the fact Kontrol S2 having a booth out is great.
Not yet tried on Mixlr, but I guess it can work with the same setup.
And yes Rob, I rarely use listen2myradio but your tutorial was a great help for get traktor working with listen2myradio.

I now have a high cpu usage on traktor when procaster is on, but guess that's another problem to deal with. lol
