Bug Reports for Traktor Pro 2.5.1 (NO Ranting please!)

Upgrade to 2.5.1 let me down

Hi,

I was pretty content with the 2.5.0 and post the upgrade, i've had too many issues with my Mac, so much so that i thought i got a raw deal on my mac, which is a new piece.

First off, the traktor interface 'blinks' all the time now.

There is a lag in my X1-to-Traktor relay. Hate it when the track does not play from where i exactly want it to.

Noticed once issue that didn't stay too long, but everytime i hit Sync, every track i applied it to, went straight to a fixed 138 bpm for some reason.

I'm thinking of just going back to my earlier 2.5.0 version. But if anybody else has had these issues which are now fixed, please let me know.

And apart from all this, my playlist doesn't stay up there once i've closed Traktor. I restart it and the playlist is just...gone.

Hey guys, new here. I've been DJing with virtual dj for a while and finally upgraded to traktor. Problem is is now with the traktor Kontrol 2 my computer keeps crashing the software.
PROBLEM:
The traktor crashes on me at various points during a set. it could be 1 minute...the next song...or 1 hour. but no matter what...it is guaranteed to crash. What i mean by crash is that the screen will freeze. If i have internet open that still works fine and so does everything else, but the traktor software freezes. music is still on, and the play button and other buttons still work on my S2, but the software is frozen...quite literally. I have no idea what is causing this. I uninstalled before and tried to reinstall, and even erased my whole computer to factory settings, but to no avail.

64-bit operating system.

I also have this "Slow Browser Search" issue, problem is indeed new since 2.5, while not on 2.0.3. Something's weird in those new version on "huge" collection. Bit of a pain in the ... track collection

Well my crashing is not due to a corrupt FS

Scan produced no problems.
I've also read that 0xc0000005 can be caused by "poorly written software or drivers"

Since this problem started happening with vs. 2.5 I'm going with that route. Nothing else in my system has changed.

Sorry that SFC.exe didn't fix the problem. I am unsure how to proceed, other than an re-install of the OS completely (it's what I would do if you brought it to me).

trail and error means uninstalling various apps (and cleaning all traces of it), trying to find the one that is causing the problem, it's time consuming and it's not guaranteed to find the problem straight away. However something like Malwarebytes may identify that you have a hidden bit of malware.

I don't have the problems either of you have, not to say you don't ... but i suspect the OS, rather than Traktor itself.

One good bit of news though, Windows 8 x64, is brilliant for Traktor .. I have all USB3 ports working now, no glitches and extremely low latency ... and I have a DELL XPS L701x (i7QM).

Perhaps if you have a spare HD, you could try W8.

how big is your library ? I take 3 internal 500Gb disks out carrying over 80K tracks. I once took out 100K tracks (just for poser value - nothing more). and my searches are quite quick ... considering the library size.

have you tested the read speed of the drives, had your drives fully defragged and optimised ? When i say optimised, there's a way to move the most popular files (including the OS) to the start of the drive where it's fastest.

Fragmentation over 7%, can often make searches "sluggish". Also very full disks are a definite no no .. they run slowly, and the OS has no space to create temp files as it's indexing.

I also make sure that all the tracks I want to use that evening are prepped and put into the same folder, analysed, key'd etc. and I use that folder for 90% of the mix that evening.

 

Just for the record, I also work in the IT field. I wouldn't reinstall the OS when I know the problem is not the OS. The problem only exists with this app and started when I upgraded to this app. It's safe to say that the problem is with this app. The internal drive holding the library is a Seagate Momentus XT, 750GB, 7500RPM 32MB Cache, SATA 3.0 HDD... so about as good as it gets without going to a SDD. The primary HDD where the OS and apps in the laptop reside is the same drive only a 500GB model. The drive is kept uldra clean and defragmented regularly with Executive Software's Diskeeper Enterprise. The machine protected from viri and malware with Symantec Endpoint Protection. Both the diskeeper and symantec products are disabled before I launch Traktor. The benchmarks for the machine are off the chart. You'd think this was a full blown gaming desktop. It was Dell's top of the line laptop when purchased at well over $2K. As far as I can tell the problem is with NI Traktor 2.5 and 2.5.1. I'm running 2.5.1. The reason I have such a huge library is that I'm a wedding DJ working in the industry since 1988, very good at what I do and rarely don't have a request anywherefrom the 40's or the 2000's. I just went back to Virtual DJ what I had been using for years prior to being introduced to Traktor and it works like a top. Problem is... I like Traktor better. I only wish tech folks from NI monitored this thread and threw their $.02 in once in a while to acknowledge the problem and mention that they're working on it! I am positive it is a NI problem with this particular release.

you kit sounds identical to mine, and I CAN NOT REPLICATE whatsoever.

You say you work in IT and you use symantec ... no one in IT uses that unless they are forced to, it's a huge resource hog and practically kills machines when running.

I tried to replicate your error on mine yesterday I added another drive full of MP3s, FLAC and WAV (750Gb hitachi) coupled with the other drives which are full, I have a library of almost 150K songs ... and it worked fine. (you do know that you can take out the CD-Rom and replace with a HD caddy), so three disks completely full.

So what you are saying is that in your experience you would never re-install an OS ? You also say you are overiding W7 prefetch system by using diskeeper, why is that ?

It's sounds like you have a whole lot of hate (probably frustration) and want to blame someone. Maybe you should stick with VDJ, it's ideal for weddings and does video too..

NI Staff rarely contribute in this forum, but you should know that already.

If the problem persists, open a trouble ticket and wait for an engineer to contact you. However from great experience, I know the people in this forum know more about the software than they do, especially when it comes to random fault finding.

BTW just for info nothing more ..

25 years experience, Microsoft MCSE+I, Cisco CCNP, Novel Expert+, Marconi level 5, and some other stuff. Dell system engineer for 5 years, I also use to maintain IBM clusters, and disk systems so large they would fill a room. I use to travel all over Europe maintaining extremely large and very expensive data clusters, so don't turn this into a pissing contest please.


one last thought, if the fault as you say is in 2.5, go back to 2.1.3, you sound like you don't have an F1 anyway, so the remix slots are of no use to you.

Search Speed

Hi,

my problems with 2.5.1 are:

1. The browser search results in Track Collection flickers every second
2. Extremely slow search over all tags in 300GB collection
3. infrequent hangs for 5-20 seconds, rare crashes once a month (too much anyway)

When searching the whole collection over all tags the response time after klicking a key is very high. There is no change when I deactivate the Antivirus (MSE). When I change the search option to only one tag (f.e. "artist" or "title") it is as fast as it should.

That's why I thought about customizing the search fields. What I need is a search only over the tags "artist", "title", "release" and "comment".

Does anybody know how to customize this? I haven't found a way in windows registry or Traktor files yet.

My System:
Core i3 M370 2,4GHz, 4GB RAM, W7 x64, 500GB 7200 SATA, Acer Aspire 7739, Traktor Pro 2.5.1 with S4 DJ controller (the problems listed above are independet from the controller).

wanna ask something...tried 2 use HID mode last nite on cdj900...after all i set up...when i play...then i touch de platter 1 side deck A got loop...then when i push the platter it effects the Traktor master volume...why?

 

you mean being able to search in multiple tags of your choice ?
I am afraid NI will not put in that feature anytime soon in my opinion, although I think this would be a useful feature which I think should have always been in the program.

i also made complete format of my laptop reinstalled windows and traktor many times and still when every time i close the traktor i get the not responding message! and when i use the internal soud card of my laptop i always have a distortion in the sound whatever track i load!

I have previously been using Traktor 2.03 for a long time without any issues at all on the same totally optimized win 7 32bit laptop. last night at a gig for the first time Traktor crashed. i have installed 2.5.1 update

seems to co-incide with what other people are reporting.

my laptop is win 7 32bit SP1. deditcated music machine with no antivirus + non essential services stopped and SSD drive., Audio 8 +X1. I gig every friday and never had issues with 2.03 on exactly the same set up.

I know i can go back to 2.03 but i enjoy using Advanced HID at home with my cdj900's
