Busted Hard Drive/USB jack

Ugh. JUST got Komplete 8 Ultimate and plugged the usb cable into the hard drive and the jack snapped on the drive. Now the jack is floating around inside the hard drive enclosure. So disappointing. Bought it from Musicians Friend but they say I can't return it (which makes sense b/c it comes with a serial number). Haven't had a response from NI yet- it's only been about 5 hours since it happened.

I'm tempted to pry the damn thing apart and solder it back on, but if THAT doesn't work AND NI wants it back I'll be completely SOL.

What a mess.

 

I would suggest calling/phoning NI Product Support (I don't know where you live).

I had a similar problem, called NI in Los Angeles, USA, and they arranged for me to send the defective drive back and get a new one.

It is disappointing to not be able to install the product.

I think my total turnaround time was 5 business days.

 

Good call re: phoning them. I had an email exchange going with a guy over there, but the last I heard from him was Monday. I get the feeling they aren't that organized, especially after looking at the number of better business bureau complaints.

 

Finally received my UPS return auth yesterday. Drive is on its way to California.
