Buying it! What should I know?

I'm considering buying this product. I have ableton 5.01. Any issues with using it as an audio unit or vst?

Will it give me even more sounds than I hear on the demos?

What is the latest version of it so I don't buy an old version in stores?

Is it hard to install?

 

I've had it for several years and really like it. There are some good presets plus there are lots of ways you can mess with it with other effects, EQ, Compression, tremolo, preamp plugins, etc.

One thing to consider: Elektrik Piano has gone a long time without a major update/upgrade. It has not gone Universal Binary yet. I am hoping that:
1. They do make it UB
2. If they do I hope they improve it quite a bit.

I am using it with Digital Performer and it works fine.

I believe the latest version is 1.1.10. As you can see, they haven't made a lot of changes.

 

The samples are awsome as a matter of fact probably the best out there, but consider this.

-It is not that stable. And it's by far the most neglected product NI makes. They simply don't offer updates on the product and when they do, it's way behind the curve!
-The major concerns are mostly with protools 7.x, but not limited to that. -Also, the ram factor is a pain. You have to use the DIRECTFROMDISK (dfd) extention to use it, even if you have a powerful computer.
-Still no UB's yet.

I gave up on it a while back and bought AAS lounge lizard session for 99 bucks. It's way more efficient, and way WAY more stable (and works on intelmacs) I might upgrade to the full version soon, but for the price and ease of use it is a joy actually. Biggest downfall......no clave.

And btw, before lounge lizard, I used EP with live 5 all the time
