    I see it different.

For me it clearly means: going from a single product to a bundle - the product is part of the bundle already, so you cannot use it as a single product anymore. This makes sense btw. If the single product is not part of the bundle already, I cannot do not go from single to bundle, I use another product thats not part of the bundlke in order to get the crossgrade.

There has been crossgrades that I used in the past going e.g. from Logic to Cubase. You can do this once, and due to the fact, that Logic is not part of Cubase...., I was able to sell logic afterwards.

Completely different situation. Apple can't tell you what to do with your Steinberg license!

yes, but another example. The crossgrade for Kontakt currently, where you need to own another library. You can sell the library afterwards because it is and was not part of the bundle. Having this said, the chapter of the licence agreement can only be valid, if the single product belonged to the bundle before. And the bundle is Komplete 8. And Maschine is not part of it. Not before the bcrossgrade and not after the crossgrade.

Anyway, I appreciate your thoughts on this. I am not 100% sure.

did you give this in response to some ticket, or support call you had? At least thats the impression I got form your affirmative statement; i.e. that corssgrade is linked to the original software

I'm just asking since you (re)joined these discussions of what the license say, does not say, may say, implies, what have you.

Anyways, maybe i'm misreading your previous postings

if you just want komplete at the lower price i would go with my earlier suggestion and get a cheap secondhand copy of kore, my understanding is that both 1 and 2 qualify but it must be the hardware edition not the software edition of kore 2.

Hey! I have a big question i've been looking every to get the answer..

I don't want to buy Maschine or Maschine Mikro, I just want the sounds in it and the expansion packs that come with it like "Platinum Bounce" &"True School" and more. Can I buy the Expansion packs and install them on my computer and use them like Komplete 8? Or do I need to buy Maschine or Maschine Mikro to use those sounds?

how in the world did you order the crossgrade without having a registered Maschine. did you get it from a third party vendor or are you sure you don't have one of the other qualifying crossgrade products.

You can order all kind of crossgrades or updates. The truth comes during registration...

Those Expansion Packs are tailored to Maschine... you might be able to install them on your computer but you wouldn't be able to 'use them' as is. You might be able to find the individual wav files for the samples but you'd have to build your own kits in whatever sampler you have.

    ok, I received the answer:

Maschine is linked to the komplete crossgrade. If you sell Maschine, you need to have another crossgrade product to be able to work with komplete 8 again......stupid.

No. If you sell Maschine, you sell K8 with it. There's no ifs, ands or buts about it.

"If you upgrade or crossgrade from a single product to a product bundle, it is not possible or permitted to resell or transfer the original single product once the upgrade or crossgrade has been completed. "

EW: For me it still is clear: going from a single product to a bundle means, that the single product is part of the bundle before the crossgrade. Why should I say "single" to a "bundle" if the "single " is not part of the "bundle" already? This is the difference. You will loose a single product licence for Kontat, because it is part of the bundle. You do not loose Maschine, because it is not a single produt that is already part of the bundle......

A lawyer would aggree on this. Even if NI handles this different!

Sorry mate, seems pretty clear cut that if you crossgrade like this the two products become a bundle that can only be sold together.

Ah- wrong. I happen to have two lawyers in my family, and I discuss intellectual property and software licensing issues with them quite often. This would definitely stand in a US court.

If it were the way you're proposing, then someone could buy the crossgrade, and then sell the qualifier to someone else who would do the same, etc. That's why it specifically states in the EULA that:

    1) A product can only be used for a crossgrade once, and
    2) The crossgrade license becomes tied to the qualifying product,
