Buying S2/S4 without Software?

Hello everyone,

I've got a question about buying a Traktor controller: Normally, they ship with Traktor Pro 2. But Traktor Pro itself is 169 €, an I already own and use it with my VMS4. I had some problems with my unit recently, so I had the idea to buy a Kontrol S2 (or S4) without the software. Is this possible in any way? That will decide whether I buy a Kontrol S2 or choose another third party controller.

You can often buy controllers second hand from people selling without software, but all retail units come with Traktor included.

 

That may be but those people are breaking their license agreement with NI.

 

NI do seem to be getting a little more lax as far as software licences go, people are ending up with far too many licences as each and every one of their products comes with yet another key.
If I'd bought all my products new I'd have 4 TP2 keys and could probably still get them all by registering through the old LE versions.

Given that products like Traktor Audio 2 are not registered or linked to their bundled software, is it still forbidden for the license/hardware to be sold separately?
