    Hi,.
I wanted to devote an old laptop working Ok, Asus extensa with WIn 7 just for practicing guitar, using Reaper with backgrounds racks in Wav or Mp3 and, since,I wanted to keep it light, using only Guitar rig.
After a few hours I renonced. Access doesn't install. Takes some times, with an old computer, this business... But no way, Access installed many times generally till the point where it is supposed to update. Then its interface disappears from the screen. End of the story. I won't describe all what I tried, but it took a lot of time . (I thought I would have finished in 30 mn, ah aha). Furthermore, I was not able to find a telephone number for requesting some help from Native Instrument. How can one put some money in a software,(kontakt) and its many instruments, and just find oneself totally helpless when there is a problem (or maybe many, except a labyrinthique so called self-assistance service. The major issue I see so far is that my laptop is too old (2 Ghz ram, 3 ga memory) but I did not see nowhere it wrtten off from the prerequisits. Just stuck and probably not keeping doing this.
    Thanks for your attention..

NA and all NI SW works fine on my W7 notebook. It is 10 years old one....

NI does not have phone service, but they have livechat and it works. Or at least used to work, when I had used it.

Works fine here as well. Older laptop i5/8GB/SSD. Some minor issues, like installing packs for ever ... although in reality it has all been done. Need to terminate NA by force, but after reboot everything i fine with 'hanging' install ready.Because of this I need to install each pack in NA one by one on my W7 system.

Exactly. NA occasionaly hangs. Occasionaly in my case means few percent of runs, nothing bothering. I have K13U CE an I managed install all plugins, even those that are not for Win7, like Guitar Rig 6 or Super 8. I do not have to install one by one. No problem with bulk installs.

On very few occasions has happened to me that NA said installation of plugin is not completed, but after restart of NA it was installed OK.

Generally, NA works quite fine under W10.

I have found n windows installing native access as admin, then launching as admin works best. Also switch off antivirus like norton or whatever.

I guess, NA needs admin rights....

I kept working at it. I installed as adm. in particular. NA went a bit further starting to update, but got stuck again. Finally I found out how to send a ticket. I am waiting for an answer. That was yesterday. I cross my fingers. I'll tell you how I managed (if I managed!).Thanks guys, for your time.

10 days since I sent a ticket and no reply. I have a strong feeling Kontakt doesn't give a sh...t. of old customers. Thanks for friendly messages above.

The system requirements for NA is given here : https://www.native-instruments.com/en/specials/native-access/
I noticed in some other thread some guy being pissed of that his system didn't work, and it was written of as he had an i3 processor. If you have an i5 processor things should work.

I'm also wondering if the OpenGL 2.1 stuff can cause problems, really don't know how to update or check that.

Have you received email confirmation that Ticket has been openned? If not, something went wrong and your Ticket has not completed its way to NI IT system....

It has happened to me several times several years ago, when NI started a new Ticketting system. They probably fixed it since then. My feeling was that it did not work correctly with one of my web browsers, but I am not sure if that was the cause.

You do not write which version of Guitar Rig. Guitar Rig 5 is aimed to run also on Win 7, but GR6 is supported only on Win 10.....

    NOTE.
I made run even GR6 on Win 7, but NA had problems to install it. NA was not able to complete installation.... I had to install GR6 manually using installation file. It runs on my Win 7, but I read somewhere that it depends on what graphic card one uses.... Anyway GR6 is not supported on Win7, so I doubt NI would help you in this case....

If you have something really old like a core 2 duo, or 10 year old i3, likely will not work. Also check your video card specs to see if supporting opengl 2.1. Do you know the exact processor and video card from the system get info in windows control panel?

That a very useful link It seems I have all the prerequisits except for a I5. Speccy finds out :
-Genuine Intel CPU 575 @ 2.00GHz and also
    Rated Bus Speed 664.9 MHz
    Stock Core Speed 2000 MHz
    Stock Bus Speed 166 MHz
I don't know much but I plainly know my computer was before the i3 i5 i7 stuff.SO it seems I can't go further.
    Thanks for your effort, really.

1 )I know my ticket went Ok, because it was a bit difficult to fill and when I sent it I had spent quite a bit of time on it.
    2) I hope I could get an old version of Guitar Rig like or at least V. 5.0. Whatever I get but not GR6. Thank you for your effort. Really cool !

I just regret Native did not keep a page for downloading old versions for people in my situation ; an old version of Service Center would have done the trick for me. But It's probably not on the developpement plan of the company. Anyway I found out that some guitar-effects of reaper, if you forget the somewhat stern aspect of the GUI's, were quite usable. So that's what I am going to do. Bye bye Access !

You can download and use GR5, if you have licence. But it is pretty difficult to get one secondhand. Some people prefer GR5.

I guess GR6 would not run on your HW, it is CPU hungry. I am not sure if even GR5 would run. 1 core 1 thread CPU was very week even 10 years ago.

Actually,I think to remember I used guitar rig on this computer. The problem then would not be GR but it's Acess itself which makes impossible to use it. All I can do now is downloading the old version of Service Center from my Kontakt install discs. Then it "transforms" automatically into Access. No choice. I don't find it user-friendly business approach in my case. And, you're right in the sense it seems difficult to find a stand alone version of GR5. As "Kahil Gibran"s book "The Prophet" says : You invite confort as a slave and it becomes your master ! Stg like that ! Tks

A little victory. I found a GRig 5.0 downloaded it, installed it, and in demo mod, it works nicely (even better than on my i7 it seems...)But I still have the annoying automatice blocage of service center>access. Ok, another ticket I think.
