    Hello,
I have a big problem with Traktor Scratch Pro:

When I install multicore cables every time cd calibration fails. When I unplug multicore cable and plug CDJs 400 directly into Audio 8 DJ everything works fine - CD calibration is successful everytime! NI sent me brand new cables but I have the same problem.

    Please help!

    thx,

    magik

You must be pluggin' them in wrong.
    Recheck the routing.

4 color coded cables (black, white, yellow and red) go into corresponding inputs on Audio 8 dj, female xlr jack goes into the male xlr jack with 4 RCA cables and 2 female RCA cables connect with the mixer (4 male RCA cables - line in) and 2 female RCA connectors (red and white) connect with 2 male CDJ 400 RCA connectors?

    thx.

That sounds correct as long as the ins and outs are going in the correct places. 2 bad multicores would be very rare for sure. Make sure the decks aren't cross wired into the Audio 8. Otherwise, I don't know what's up. If the standard multicores work, it has to be the connection of the multicores I would think, right?

Make sure black and red are together and white and yellow are together.

I already got sent 2 replacement multicore cables since NI support thought it was something wrong with my original cables.

I replaced them and still have the same problem. Even when I switch to my phono line to play regular cd it sounds very distorted and with lot of low frequency (sound is very low with lot of bass). In theory when I switch from line (time coded cd) to phone (regular cd) it should be no problem...

    thanks,

    magik

Do not switch to phono unless you are using real vinyls. Timecoded vinyls (turntables) and timecoded CDs (CDJ) should go with the cable marked "Mixer Line In" and you channel should be on Line In. If you plan to play regular CD's leave the channel Line In and select Audio Walktrough in Traktor interface.

Check that out maybe there is the issue.

Thanks - where can I find "audio walkthrough" in Traktor?

I unplugged cables for phono in and calibration works! That is weird - can someone tell me why is this happening?

I mean if I need to leave them unplugged it defeats the purpose of having an option to switch between timecoded cds and regular cds?

To switch to Audio Walkthrough click the arrow below deck letter. If it is deck A, click the arrow below deck A an choose Audio Walkthrough

You can switch from Timecode/audio through in the software. The CDJ outputs at line level so using the hardware phono through for regular CDs (the phono bit of the multicore) would result in a distorted signal.

Thanks it worked. So these phone in multicore cables are not designed for CD outputs, I guess only works with vinyl?

Is this case with all mixers? I have Xone 62 so not sure if is affecting most of the mixers out there?

Yes, this is available for all mixers in the world. Line for CDJ/Timecode CD/Timecode Vinyl, Phono for real vinyl.

please read the manual... it clearly states that with timecode CDs, you need 2 line channels for every deck to play timecode and normal CDs...
