Can I delete everything before installing Komplete 12 upgrade?

    Hi,

I was a Komplete 4 and 7 owner. I just bought a new computer and am thinking about upgrading to Komplete 12.

I was no longer using Komplete on my ancient computer and deleted the libraries for the older versions of Komplete at some point because of space issues.

I just moved all of my data over to my new computer, so all of the programs are still installed (without the libraries), but I’m wondering if it’s OK to start fresh and delete everything before upgrading to Komplete 12. I don’t mind losing some of the legacy stuff, I’d rather just start new if possible since I don’t have any old projects that need them.

Can I go ahead and uninstall everything or will that be an issue? I assume that the legacy products I bought and registered with NI years ago are not available for download anymore and I can’t be bothered trying to find all my old CDs (DVDs).

I’m also wondering if I can delete the old installer as well, I was getting all sorts of random error messages from it on my old machine so I’d like to kill it if possible.

Lastly, do you guys recommend getting the packaged hard drive version or downloading everything? I have a pretty quick internet connection and I’m mostly concerned with making sure the libraries are all installed on my external drive.

    Thanks!

You can start fresh with no NI products on your computer and install the Komplete 12 products; you do not need the older products on your computer even if you purchased a Komplete 12 upgrade license.

The NI software activation process uses information about your NI User Account that is stored online (on NI servers), so you can install only Komplete 12 on your computer and not worry about the legacy stuff.

The packaged hard drive version vs download version is your choice, but I like the hard drive version so I have the base product set already archived.

Thanks. I’ll take both suggestions. I’ll delete everything off my computer to start fresh and order the hard drive version. Thanks!

Installing from HDD also has the charme, that downloads are updates only, so the installation process is much faster ;)
