so. before i buy thisi absolutely HAVE to know can a standard midi file be read into bandstand and played with no problems at all....

im reading some posts that would indicate otherwsie.

i dont mind if i cant drag and drop but can i get teh file in some way?

can i run it as a VSti in cubase and have two instances - one with drums, one with bass or whatever? this is getting back to my other post here - assuming i really can only have one stereo out per instance of bandstand.

just need to be 100% clear on a few things before buying!

    cheers

Well, I can't! And nor can many others.

Bandstand works fine (though slow) as a plug-in (I use Digital Performer). However, since the latest upgrade there is no way it will operate in stand-alone mode.

Thomas says they are looking at the issue, but NI seems to be taking its ever-loving time.

It's disgraceful that this product hasn't worked for several months, despite numbers of users complaining. My guess is we're gonna have to wait for some while yet.

NI just don't seem to be able to allocate enough techs to fault-finding. So, you should think hard about whether Bandstand is the product you need for your operation.

    thanks karl..

very useful info to have right now. for me the inability to read in an SMF is not just a minor flaw its a complete and utter showstopper!

i want to use this to create backing tracks from midi files for live use. am i missing something or is there a way i could do that without reading in the midi file.

could i read the midi file into Cubase. then call up two instances of Bandstand as a VSTi. then play the drums thru one to a certain audio output and the rest thru another audio output. is even all that achievable with teh current edition of Bandstand...

cheers and thanks - hope they sort you out soon.
