Possibly without having to use an external/internal sound card.

I mean can the digital audio card internal to the Rig Kontrol send MIDI infromation to other midi softwares just by connecting to the usb port, or it will work only under Guitar Rig ?

I think it depends on the version of Kontrol Rig. If you have the right version (i know 3 works but not sure about 2 or 1) then installing the latest Contoller Editor driver will make it a generic midi controller that can be used outside of guitar rig.

Thanks guys these are good knews cause I'm going to buy the latest one so it should work as you mentioned.

Indeed considering that the Rg Kontrol 3 is expensive being limited to use only as Guitar Rig Foot Controller would have suck a bit. I would have thotught to buy the Beringher Midi Foot controller and an buy an external quality soundcard, and I would have no limits.

Now buying The Rig Kontrol is the way to go, cause i like the more compact and stylish look.

Is there any bag available to transport it included in the package ?

Be aware that it only works as a midi controller (afaik) with outside software. Can't use the asio sound card in the RK. It only works with GR.

Mhm, this sucks :( Why the hell it doesn't work as sound card in this case too ?

So I would have to connect my monitors to another soundcard and my guitar too, instead of connecting both to the Rig Control.

So in this configuration The only cable connected to the Rig Control would have to be the USB cable right ?

Or should I use midi cables.

By the way what are the MIDI input outputs docks in the RIG Kontrol for if everything is done through the usb cable ?

I'm using the usb cable, but I assume that one could use the midi ins and outs as well. I haven't tried that configuration yet.

Ok, well then for the other softwares I'll stick with my integrated audio card.

Later on I'll get an additional professional soundcard to use for those uses.

    Thanks for the info :D

    What is this?

I use it as a soundcard all the time without GR3 i use it as a audio hardware in ableton live 6 le, 7 standard and 8 suite. I've used it in logic, reason and cubase on both windows and mac.
Even asio4all can use it as a stand alone audio device.

It's the pure midi controller function i cant seem to get running :/.
I can use it as a midi in/out-device but that's not what i want.
I would like to use the pedal buttons to send CC to the DAW.

It works flawless with GR3 with audio and buttons an pedal. But i would like to use it as a midi controller too.

Anyone have a clue how i get it to work?

I don't know why you say that -- the Rig Kontrol works just fine for me as a sound card even when I'm not running Guitar Rig.

What *is* true is that you cannot use the RK and a different sound card in the same application at the same time, but that is a limitation of ASIO and applies to any two sound cards, not just to RK.
    ---
You can do so in addition to the USB cable. You need the USB connection to supply power to Rig Kontrol.
    ---
I don't see why. As far as I can tell, you can connect your monitors to the Rig Kontrol's outputs and your guitar to the Rig Kontrol's inputs.
    Right.
Irrespective of anything else you do, you must use a USB cable because it is the only way to get power to the Rig Kontrol.
So that you can use Rig Kontrol to talk to another MIDI device (that does not support USB on its own) without needing a separate MIDI interface.

Mea Culpa! You're absolutely correct. The NIHardwareService kept causing ID 256 warnings (still does), so I disabled the service at boot. I forgot to turn it on when I was testing with Amplitube so it wasn't detected. My apologies to all. It was not my intention to mislead anyone.
