I have never DJed before but wanna get into it. I don't know where to even begin but I have the Traktor DJ app. I also have Tabletop. Someone wanna teach me and I can pay you through fiverr.com, PayPal, work out some compensation, something like that?

Like I said, I have never touched any DJ equipment, don't know a thing about it, but am motivated to learn, or at least share screens so I can watch you work and learn by observing.

    Thanks

Tabletop is not a DJ app. Aleast not last time i checked.
If you wanna learn how to DJ for dirt cheap get a midi controller and go from there on.
You dont start learning with apps smh

Like I said I don't know the first thing about djing.

I looked for tutorials but can't find any for complete beginners. Can you post a couple links?

i think your all being a bit cruel here... someone is asking for advice getting started... no need to try and make them look small..

The best advice I can give you is to find a genre of music you like, most dance amd electronic music is easiest to mix.

You have to make sure the two songs you choose will compliment each other and not clash, have the same BPM and will fit together when mixed.

Strictly speaking, a good DJ will choose the exact right moment to start mixing out of one track to another. No point in playing one track then immediately mixing out of it. There has to be a natural progression to the mix. Usually in dance music there is recognisable structure -

Intro.. Verse 1, Chorus, Verse 2 , Chorus, etc. etc. not all songs are the same it varies a little, but basically the song is telling a story. The intro brings you into the theme of the journey, maybe with a drum beat or a synth riff, as you progress into the song, the sound builds to the chorus. The chorus is the part of the song that ties together all the parts verses that led up to it. A bit like an answer to a question.

In short, you want to pick the right moment to start mixing out of the first track to the second. usually when the song has given you the chorus a few times and the song is playing its way out...

The best advice I can give is to get stuck in... theres no wrongs or rights, just better and worse mixes... practiice makes perfect... Traktor is very easy to use... Play, explore, enjoy...

Where you from jangomango, there are loads of dj courses out there, E.g in UK at Ministry of Sound. Check out trade mags for info.

The best 1 piece of advice I have (now that beat mixing is no longer needed:)) is that most dance tunes work on a 32 or 64 beat (4 or 8 bar) loop - mix your next tune in on these parameters and in most cases it'll work.

*TITLE EDITED* Please keep it polite - Keir @ NI

Now that I got that off my chest...

Thanks for the links/advice. Any other info that isn't easily searchable by google or YouTube would be awesome thanks.

Also, I am looking for tutorials for Traktor DJ APP not the physical equipment. Anyone know of other apps to create your own songs (dub step, house, electronic genre)? Go to soundcloud and look up tabletop. Some cool songs have been created just w that app. That's what I am looking to do.

    Beat Mixing or Beat matching

1st my 'advice' was aimed at Joannajogramma, who asked for help, not Jango so sorry about that Jango.

Second thanks Jango for pointing out Ricky trying to be so very clever. Yes i supppose you need to match them but without mixing them correctly via the xfader you don't get the desired effect. I and my turntableist colleagues from the early
90's always called it beat mixing as that's what we did, which was more than just matching them.
Look it up, matching is part of mixing, the latter which is what I did on my 1210's.
So I repeat, now that we're in the digital age and BEAT MIXING is not important......
