Ok so I'm extremely new to Reaktor, I hav actually only been playing with the DEMO version to see If I would like to Purchase it.

Anyway this thought crossed my mind. Being an E-drummer I(and many E-drummers alike) have been waiting for a Plug-in E-Drum sampler to use in the studio and maybe even live.

You may ask why not just use Battery or Kontakt....well I have been but it leaves one problem unaddressed, The Hi-Hat. You can't find a sampler that will allow you to use and trigger Multi samples(Open to Close) from the Hi-hat.

So this is where this leads me.....is it possible in Reaktor to Create an Ensemble that will a allow you to use a controller message, say Foot Controller #4 to trigger samples that correspond to where the Hi-hat is in reality.

ie. Your Hi-hat is open and you key #is F#1 then the Controller #4 registers at 127, or closed would be F#1 and controller message 1, and different samples would trigger in-between open and closed for that realistic transition as you play your e-drums.

I know this may sound confusing but think of it as your Drum Pad is assigned to F#1 but the controller message(determined by the position of your pedal) determines which sample is actually played when F#1 is struck.

If there is anybody who has any thoughts about this I would love to hear them....I know many people have been waiting for something like this to come along, and not quite sure why it hasn't yet.

this would be dead simple to do with reaktor. its also a very good idea. i have used a sustain pedal plugged into my motu 828 to do the same thing with just open or closed positions, i was just using samples off my linndrum at the time, so i had no need for middle ground. send me an email if you end up purchasing reaktor (you really should, i can't say enough good things about it) and i'll help you out with the ensemble if you like.

    cheers
