    i just bought bandstand.

i'm using it as a plug-in AU in ABLETON LIVE.

i'd like the MIDI player in BANDSTAND to play and stop when i press play and stop in the host sequencer.

i figured this one would be a no-brainer but i still can't manage to figure out how do it... otherwise, this product is pretty useless for me, unless i can sync it up to my audio and MIDI in ABLETON LIVE.

why on earth wouldn't the internal player sync to the host? i mean, all the usefulness of this product as a plug-in stems from this one simple thing... am i missing something?

    thanks,

    graham

I don't quite follow what you mean by "...I'd like the MIDI player in BANDSTAND to play and stop when I press play and stop in the host sequencer." If your're using Bandstand as a plugin sound source and your host possesses the midi song then playing the midi song in your host will cause Bandstand to respond, playing the midi messages on its instruments as instructed by the midi data coming from the host. In this context you don't want to be using Bandstand itself to play the midi file. That's something else altogether, i.e when using Bandstand on its own.

i'm using the built in MIDI player in bandstand, and i'm using bandstand as a AU plug-in in ableton live.

there is no relationship between the transport controls and master tempo in ableton (i.e. play, stop) and the transport and tempo of the internal bandstand MIDI player. i would like bandstand (like every other plug-in, for that matter) to follow what i'm doing in ableton live.

    No.

I don't think its supposed to work like that.

I would create a midi track in live, add my midi file there, and then add the bandstand plugin on that track.

I am surprised NI even left the bandstand transport controls in the plugin version since they don't really serve any purpose.

And even if the player 'could' sync to incoming clock, it would still be tighter and more reliable to play the midi from Live and simply use bandstand as a sound source.

my issue with that is that, say, a MIDI song has 16 MIDI parts, it's gonna take up 16 tracks in ableton live. i might as well use kontakt 3 on each instance...

i would then have to route all the MIDI outs of each channel into bandstand as well, which takes some time...

i was just looking for a really quick solution, whereby i could have a whole MIDI song playing w/ samples, and not have it have up more real estate in live...

is there a way to compress the 16 MIDI channels into one lane or channel in live and then drop bandstand onto that channel/track?

thanks for the help thus far!
