I've spent the past 5 hours yanking my hair out. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to play a song on Deck A, and have a track on Deck B in my headphones. Also, I can't seem to figure out how to make it so when Deck A is playing, I can have Deck B playing as well, but not have any sound coming out when the volume is all the way down. I am new to Traktor, and Im a beginner. I started learning on Virtual DJ, and now I've upgraded to Traktor.

I am using a Numark Mixtrack to learn on until, I have saved up enough for the S4, and have learn more of the basics.

Also, my effects will not work on either deck.

I would appreciate if any of you members could please walk me through the steps of fixing all these noobish problems.

go to preferences > audio setup
click on "Numark DJ IO ASIO"

then go to preferences > OUtput routing
and select Numarks Ch 1+2 for the MASTER OUT
and 3+4 for Monitor (your headphones)

Under Audio Setup All my options were to select were "Numark USB Audio Device (Core Audio) so I selected that. As for the Output, I attached a screen shot. Everything you told me to select is not given to me for an option. It doesnt say anything about this "Numarks Ch 1+2 for the MASTER OUT
and 3+4 for Monitor (your headphones)" anywhere and thats for all Decks. All it says is
    1: Out 1 2:Out 2 etc.

if you are using just the controller and not a hardware external mixer, you'll need to change to 'internal' mixing mode.

Then you will see the correct options appear

Thank you it works now..but this leads me to my next problem.
Im hearing both tracks going on in my head phones. I only want to hear Deck B going in my headphones to prepare the mix while Deck A is going out through my monitors..

Also, when Deck A is playing through the monitors, and the switch is all the way over to Deck A, how come when I press play on Deck B I can hear it in the monitors as well? I want to make it so even though Deck B is turned all the way up on one side, you cant hear any of it til I start moving the switch over to Deck B.

Heres a screen shot. I can't figure out how to just get Deck B to play while deck A is in my headphones. Also, on the master speakers why do I hear both tracks playing even when the crossfader is all the way over to a certain Deck?

    hi,

in the screenshot situation, you haveactivted both decks for the headphone output (the light-blue button between the "KEY" and the "PAN" knob.

please press only one (the deck you want to hear)

Okay thank you that works now, which leads me to my next problem.

When Deck A is playing, and my cross fader is all the way over to deck A how come when I load a track on Deck B and press play (even if the head phone is clicked for Deck B ) its still playing over my main speakers while Deck A is playing? I want to be about to press play Deck B while the cross fader is all the way over to Deck A and be able to mix in a track as I please, and once the cross fader is all the over on Deck B then you hear no more of Deck A. Here is a screen shot.
Even though on this pic I have the Deck A clicked for the head phones B is still blasting while Deck A is playing.

I think i found your problem!

    In no particular order:

    1) Lack of content (red x's) in the favorites indicates you are on a pirated copy of Trakor.
    2) Pirated suspicion confirmed by the torrented ThatSongIsBomb.com site in your deck headers
    3) You only own skrillex
    4) You have a flanger loaded as an efx

so, you're using an external sound card, but you insist on having it in 'Internal' mixing mode.

    RTFM!
