Hi! Sorry but this is super frustrating: native instrument app keep sending me the error message that I need to free up spaces in order to download. I spent an hour or so freeing out my Mac, now I have almost 200 GB freed up, but the error message still keeps jumping out. Why this happened? (I have an external SSD connected and I already set all the locations to the external hard drive which has like 1TB of space).

    Please help, Thank you!

I think it will extract to local drive. So 39gb download, extracts to 60gb installer, needs 100gb. So simply install stuff one at a time then delete temp files.

What size is required for the product/bundle are you downloading? The K13 UCE is the largest (1.1TB all up). I'm only a few months in, new to NI and by downloading one product at a time to an external drive I had no issues with HD space at all and my internal drive is only 500GB. Thats because you need to be aware that the internal system drive WILL be used temporarily to unpack the files and install stuff. Also if you have time machine operational, check out the scenario with snapshots. They have apparently caused issues with space used even though people have made room.

I would try single downloads at a time and see how you go.

Edit - well it seems SimChris's post came in before mine....so

The library I'm trying to download is the Symphony Series Percussion, which is like only 27 GB. That's the only library I'm trying to get. It says 44 GB required on Macintosh but I already have 181 GBs freed up. I also set the download path to my external hard drive that would be even more space ;C

Hi! I'm only getting the Symphony Series Percussion, which is only 27 GBs. I believe I already have enough space for my internal system to unpack the files.
I do have time machine operated, but I do not have the time machine external drive connected all the time (I have two different external drives, one is for time machine, one is for all my native instruments downloads, which is the one I'm having trouble with)

    Hi Peineng Dai ,
200GB should be more than enough. Have you emptied the trash and bebooted? The time machine issue has something to do with local snapshots, which seems to be a bit of a mystery as to how Apple actually manages these. My understanding is they are different from your snapshots you save on your external HD as they are on the internal drive. Theres posts somewhere here on the forum. Maybe do a search for "local snapshots". Apparently if you disable Automatic backups it is supposed to clear them out but I dont know. I also remember folks saying you get a false report of available free space in About this Mac. Apple really annoys me with this type of stuff. I have Time Machine but only use it occasionally and manually, and dont have it connected unless it is to do that. Even after all the K13 UCE installed (Only Apps and a few libraries on the internal drive) I still have close to 400GB free, but I still did one product at a time.

    Hope this helps.

EDIT: just reading your posts again, saw you're having trouble with your external drive?

Which drive did you clear that 200GB out from or was it a combination of all your drives? How much actual free space do you have on your internal drive? Also it might be helpful to say what your specs are. That helps people to help you better, if it could be causing anything.
