Can't Enter Decimals For Fine Tune

I am going through one of the Reaktor tutorials trying to build an oscillator. In the one part for creating a fine tune knob, it says to make the range from -0.5 to 0.5 and step size of 0.1.

I can't enter the decimal points no matter what I do.

So I opened up a synth I made with a stock oscillator and opened up the structure. In it there is a fine tune knob. I looked at the ranges and they are from -0.5 to 0.5. So I blanked out the 0.5 and tried to retype it in.

    It won't let me.

This is an obvious bug in the program. I don't know what's causing it but it doesn't work.

I am running the latest version of Reaktor, 5.9.2 on Windows 7 64 bit.

If anybody has a clue as to what is causing this I would appreciate a solution to the problem.

    Thank you.

What is the step size set to?

The step size for the tutorial says to make it 0.01.

I found a work around though it is not elegant. If I copy and paste decimal numbers from something like a text document, it works. Even with the correct step size (finished tutorial) if I go back in, take out the decimal and try to put it back in, I can't.

It's a bug, plain and simple.

I have another problem now trying to take the osc I made and putting it into a macro. It says to draw a box around the structure and then cut it and paste it into the macro. How do you do this? I tried just moving my mouse around the area while left clicking but that doesn't do anything.

Is it possible these tutorials are now out of date with the latest update? I am getting very frustrated trying to get through these because things aren't working the way they're supposed to.

Okay, mystery solved. The bug is in using Reaktor inside of Cubase 7. A lot of the editing and entry features simply don't work. Used in stand alone mode everything works just fine. I don't know who to report this to, NI or Steinberg.

my guess is that cubase is grabbing all your keypress info. i think the same problem used to or still does exist with ableton.

That's probably what it is. Oh, by the way, I'm getting your free tutorials (now using them in standalone mode) and they're great now that they actually work. I'm probably going to buy your full blown course. I do have one question. How much in depth does it actually go into DSP programming? Will it allow me to go into the deepest levels of Reaktor and build just about any synth from scratch with just about any configuration I can think of? So far I like what I see and I just want to get some idea of how much deeper the paid course goes. Thanks for getting back to me on this. Oh, and you can ignore the email I sent you. I figured out that the problem was Cubase.

to be honest, the current course is mostly for beginners, to get you up to speed with how the modules work, how digital audio works, so on and so forth. if you're already comfortable with reaktor primary and making basic synths and the like it might not be for you. there are some projects like a basic FM synth, some simple drum machine type stuff with basic voice processing, etc. all these are built from scratch and explained pretty thoroughly.

i'm in the process of writing a second course now that is 3 hours on Reaktor Core. it is the very nitty gritty stuff, like how to build oscillators from scratch, how to implement FM, phase mod, and other features, building delays, (very very basic) filters, and envelopes, etc... you might find it more to your liking, if the DSP side of things is more your interest. i'll be sharing in it a lot of the basic building blocks and ideas that i use for developing in Core.

Thanks for getting back to me on this. Yes, I would be very interested in an advanced course. I'm pretty comfortable with the basics so a course on Core would be fantastic. Let me know when it's ready and I'll be one of your first customers.
