hey guys, can't find how to sidechain a synth to a kick when I want to take the kick out of a pattern, like a snare buildup... in ableton you can just automate the channel on/off to remove the kick and you'll still have the sidechain effect... I've tried doing that in maschine, no luck... tried turning the velocity all the way down and leave the kick on, still no luck... suggestions?

Turn the velocity very very low, just not zero. Should do the trick.

Also make sure your compressors is on the synth, sidechain is on the kick.

just use a dummy kick in another sound slot , and side chain to it instead of the real kick , turn the sound level of your dummy kick to zero , so it still trigger the side chain but you don't ear it .

hey thank you, but this is my problem... if I try this and use a dummy kick, are you saying that you actually have to have a kick in place, set it to fire on quarter notes, and turn the velocity all the way down... because if I do this, it doesn't trigger the compressor... thoughts?
