Can't get A-Series with Pro Tools 2021.10.0 new integration to work

Hi, I was excited to see Pro Tools has integrated Komplete Kontrol keyboards with their latest version… I'm a PT user but an A-Series noob. I've read the documentation, and can't for the life of me get them to play nice together, as advertised. I'd love to get these transport buttons working, but they don't respond at all - no button responds. I feel like I'm probably missing something basic, but I haven't found it. Any help?

As instructed by PT, I added the keyboard under peripherals. The LCD screen is definitely picking up on Pro Tools, showing track names and volume info when I click on different tracks in PT… but the buttons do nothing.

Pro Tools is not listed here but it should be something alike

I've got the same problem with an S61 mk1 keyboard, Pro Tools doesn't even recognise its there. (I have an M32 keyboard, and that seems to work fine). The Avid video on YouTube says that it will work with any Komplete Kontrol keyboard. But this doesn't seem to be the case. Theres a few threads popping up on the Pro Tools forum about this too. Think we are being misled again by NI (or perhapsAvid).

 

Also have an S61 Mk1 and have used Pro Tools for decades, disappointed about it's (lack of) KK implementation. Now that they have some, those of us early-adopters who helped make the KK platform successful enough to merit an Mk2 version have been left behind. Again.

 

it states in the Pro Tools release notes that the supported KBs are the S Series Mk2, A Series and M32, no mention of MK1 KBs. It is not surprising that Avid did not implement functionality for the MK1 Series as it is discontinued.

Yup. But that wasn't in the Day-Zero documentation. They added the caveat afterwards. I honestly wouldn't mind if they'd made that distinction clear on release day, but it's also vexing that the Transport Controls (all I'd like, really) still work just fine in the latest versions of Cubase and Logic.

I agree with kerrysmith, plus the YouTube video categorically stated ANY KK keyboard. I've got an M32 as well, that "works", but to be honest the implementation is so crap, Pro Tools locks up, KK locks up (yes I have removed the FB plug-ins), keyboard not recognised endless restarts to re-trigger the NI hardware drivers (I'm on a Mac) and when it does work its quite limited. Still, best way to control Pro Tools is using the Eucon protocol.

Also check that you don't have any FB360 plug-ins, they can prevent integration with Komplete Kontrol:

Step 1.
Quit / Close Komplete Kontrol, Maschine 2, Pro Tools, Native Access, and all other Audio / MIDI software that may be open.

Step 2.
Go to the following location of your computer:
Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Avid > Audio > Plug-Ins

Step 3.
Check this Plug-Ins folder (above), for the following “FB360 ~.aaxplugin files”:

• FB360-Mix-Loudness-ambiX.aaxplugin
• FB360-Control-ambiX.aaxplugin
• FB360-Stereo-Loudness-ambiX.aaxplugin
• FB360-Spatialiser-ambiX.aaxplugin
• FB360-Converter-ambiX.aaxplugin

Step 4.
When the “FB360 ~.aaxplugin files” are found, move them out of the Plug-Ins folder indicated above (e.g. you can move them to a TEMP folder on your computer’s Desktop).

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Make sure that you have also deleted the original “FB360 ~.aaxplugin files” (listed above) from the Plug-Ins folder indicated above. You can safely delete them since you have them backed up in the TEMP folder on your computer's Desktop.

Step 5.
Once you have removed the “FB360 ~.aaxplugin files” from the Plug-Ins folder, you must restart the computer.

• Restart the Computer Now

Step 6.
Once restarted, check your NI Controller device to ensure that it’s working as expected.

 

This helped after I watched YT vid from NI...Said KK Keyboards was like YEA! finally. Tried it out, no KK DAW in list...got have PT Update. Installed it PT hits me with message "can't communicate"....NI Forum and you point out MK1 VS MK2. Ok...Im a MK1, NO happ's for me. But wait M32...the offspring with NO BIT OF SCREEN and a non dedicated TRANSPORT section...which halted DAW control from start unless you worked around it or Logic was your DAW of choice you lucked up out the box...HOW SWAY? M32 trumps S-series MK1..when S-series MK2 is S generation?

MK1 doesn't fit the bill, cool. But now just like MK3 can't/doesn't have PT DAW control, you got delete certain files so MK3 won't jam up when you open PT on same system. S-MK1 Keyboard is jamming up just because I open PT..yea restart fixes it. But now PT won't stop looking for S-MK1 when opened no matter peripherals settings change...couldnt get that with MK3 at all, just stuck "Production and Performance" screen. Do I look for same files to delete like fix for MK3 and others when PT is the problem? or uninstall PT Update and act like I never heard NI finally has PT integration.

I even thought this morning after not being able to use S-MK1 with Maschine SW alongside MK3 all night, to track into PT. Plug up my 2nd Gen Axiom which has no problem controlling PT or while in Maschine SW without PT open it mimics the S-MK1(scales/arp/guide mode etc.) and S-MK1 or MK3 act like Axiom is not there. In turn, my workflow is when Maschine SW and PT is open for tracking, drag&drop,arrangment from Maschine SW/MK3/S-MK1 running every time I click back on PT window Axiom 2nd GEN transport/knobs/faders etc is PT..No clicks of mouse needed.

Thats all lost again just by updating PT..as of now before a S-MK1 Komplete Kontrol fix for Non PT Integration after/with PT 2021.xx
I LOVE though how my Axiom 2nd Gen mimics S-MK1 in MASCHINE SW. Can wait for more/better integration in PT, it just tickled my spirit when I seen vid on my Youtube Alert.

 

It doesn’t work with my A61.
PT2021.19 / A61 firmware ok / komplete kontrol last version / deleted all FB plugins.
Great idea that new integration … just if it could work !
