Can't get BLocks to re-trigger ADSR to VCA

    Hi,

I am an EWI player and I am getting some lovely tones from Reaktor's Blocks synths but I want to be able to setup the ADSR to create a tiny bit of space between each note like I normally do when I'm setting up a polyphonic synth.

With EWI, the breath control is set to control the filter cutoff and the AMP ADSR creates a tiny bit of space in between each note so that I can play it like a horn.

My normal ADSR to VCA settings on a synth such as the Oberheim Matrix 1000, for example, are Attack ~30ms, Decay 50%, Sustain FULL, Release ~30ms.

On the patch below, The ADSR works on the original note-in trigger, but then after that the envelope never will trigger again. I want it to trigger with each note message.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

the main volume of the VCA needs to be 0 - you just set the volume in the Mod A setting.
but you might have done that already?

Thanks Sowari, and I figured that out with keyboards but unfortunately there actually seems to be a bug with the Note-In plugin and my Akai EWI. If you read post #12 in this thread, this is exactly what is happening with my setup. Another user encountered the same problem: https://www.native-instruments.com/forum/threads/need-help.262689/ It looks like he was able to fix it, but although I am not new to synthesis or MIDI or EWI I am new to Reaktor and I don't know how to find the macro that he's talking about and replace the macro in the Note-In plugin with the one from Monark as he describes. I have emailed NI maybe they will help. Whenever I set the volume of the VCA to "0", it triggers the enevelope on the 1st note as scheduled but then after that Note-In receives a note-off message which cuts it off and only pitch data is sent through the Blocks which, unless VCA is set to a higher amount than "0", cuts off all the sound from your synth patch. Major bummer! Trying to figure it out. Thanks for your help.

Can't replicate the bug with a MIDI keyboard (M-AUDIO Axiom). Everything seems to work exactly as it should. Is there anything peculiar about the way the Akai EWI sends its MIDI note data?

I found some Poly Blocks and recreated a 4 voice version of the same patch. Now it works! It works exactly like I wanted it to. My question is why won't it work normally with the stock stuff in Blocks? Why do I have to create a clunky 4-voice version of this synth that soaks up more CPU when I'm just trying to play 1 note at a time for solos that has some attack/release delay time built into it on each note? Strange... Here's what I made below using Ken88's Poly Blocks package.

Blocks are mono - maybe your instrument is somehow sending more than one note?

If you can download Mark Wadewitz ACEW4 from the user library, and insert the 8 input primary module then connect it up like this:
    note in debug.PNG
Then we might be able to track down the problem
(I tried to upload a ready built version, but even with a simplified structure, the <2Mb zipped file was too large for the forum?!).

When you have it all connected up, hit the 'rst all' button on ACEW, and play the shortest sequence that demonstrates the bug - ideally two or three notes to keep it all on one screen. Then post a screen grab of the event sequence from ACEW?

Thanks colB, unfortunately when I hooked it up exactly like you pictured it doesn't show up on the panel. It's just connected inside the MIDI Note In block. How should I do it differently to obtain this data on the panel?

Sorry, forgot to mention, you have to turn on visibility for the MIDI IN module it's under the view tab in the preferences pane.
