Hey, everyone! I'm working on a vocaloid metal song, but I just can't get the right sound for my rhythm guitar.

I'm using Shreddage II and Guitar Rig 5, and after a few days of trying to build my own tones, I had to resort to presets. I've been using "Big Monster" for most of my songs, but it doesn't seem heavy enough. I know that I should double track shreddage so I can have two different guitar sounds, but since I only use one preset, I don't bother.

    Bottom line is:

I have something like this: https://soundcloud.com/larynachos/track-1-captive-in-darkness/s-Jl7tZ
I want something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoShx6P7zQw&list=LLiF3H8Mn7stoXxH3OvVkR5A

Can anyone help me out here?

that is a massive guitar sound @_@ also totally cool song!! what style would that be called?

I think the biggest difference I can tell is 2 fold; kick and bass.

Try to take a HUGE EQ chunk out of ~200hz on your 2 kik mics (I would mute the kik sub mic in the mixer) and then boost some of the sub 200
Then get a WAY better bass sound :D No offense but there's too much...is it actually a bass guitar or a sampled one? Try to fill in that 80-100haz range with the bass. I'm no master....believe me...but try those and lemme know how it goes. Or if I'm talkin out the ole anus :D

    cool track btw.

That youtube clip sounds like it has a bass line that simply follows the rhythm guitar. But, the Ultrasonic with some heavy EQ can get a very industrial sounding distorted tone. Just jack up the gain and scoop the EQ to an extreme amount. Another option would be to put the entire Big Monster in one split, and add a second split that uses some of the other available effects to lay down the bass notes. Further, you can also use the Crossover Mix to modify the low and high parts.

I'd probably start playing around with the Ultrasonic with either the Transamp or Mezone, and some heavy handed EQ for the rhythm, then add a separate split and play just with it until you get the bass tone you want.

I've been using GR5 for about 4 months now, so I'm still a noob, but I've been doing a lot of custom tone creation just to see what I can come up with, and that's probably the route I would take based on what I know so far.
