Can't install Service Center on G4

    I've installed the woodwinds part of the Symphonic Orchestra Platinum bundle and have it working.

    However, Service Center 1.2.3 will not install on my G4 MDD Mac. It starts to install, and then returns to the installer window for choosing an installation location. I tried several different locations just in case but nothing. I suspect it may be because I'm still running OS X 10.2.8, which I need to stick with for now, for various reasons. The software has 10.2 listed as a minimum system requirement anyway.

    I was able to get my machine ID from the registration tool, but how can I finish this registration process? I'll obviously be needing to do this 3 or 4 more times with the rest of the bundle.

    My machine is a MDD G4 dual 1G running OS X 10.2.8

    OK, clearly I'm a very patient fellow (probably too much so), but this problem is not going to die a slow death on page 2 or beyond in this forum.

    feel your pain

    Sounds like you're caught in that twilight between your old op system that's works great with your old apps and the need to update your OSX to satisfy the newbies but may sabotage your earlier ones. You've got to jump, we've all done it. Just make sure you've got a spare 7 hours to clean up the splat.
    Just purchased directly from NI the Komplete 5 upgrade from 4. Took several hours to install. But can't activate. Says my serial number won't export. No response (3 days and counting from NI support).
    Good luck brother! It will be worth it when you finally sort it out!

    Thanks for the moral support, GS. Trouble is, the software works fine on this machine and with this OS. My setup meets the stated system requirements, but I can't register it, and so it seems I also won't be able to use it.

    Seems to me that there's got to be some way to feed an authorization code to this software. Honestly, having to install a piece of software to register another piece of software? (where's the roll-eyes smilie when you need it?)

    Could very well be a problem with the Service Center. I've got another problem where I can't enter enough numbers in the serial # fields for the latest spektral delay. There are only 3 box fields when there needs to be three and there is this red line only going around the spektral delay selection. Weird! It's been 4 days and counting since I contacted NI support.

    You mentioned you tried other locations to install the service center.
    It must installed on the same drive and partition as your OSX. Make sure you've got plenty of space and try again. Good luck!

    3 box fields instead of 5 for spektral delay serial#

    Sorry, meant to say only presents 3 box fields for serial number entry instead of the necessary 5 need for full entry. The point is, the Service Center seems a bit buggy. That may or may not be affecting your situation.

    In your case, it looks as like the update wasn't properly installed. Until the last update, the serial number for SD was only three fields long- it sounds as though it's looking at an older version or you never registered the older version to begin with, so it's looking for the previous version's S/N to validate that you're entitled to the update.

    previous version was installed with komplete 4

    spektral delay 1.5.7 was installed with and registered with komplete 4.
    After reading your post I re installed it from the komplete 4 disk with the sevice center showing 5 boxes and said I had an incorrect serial #.
    When I tried to enter the Komplete 4 #, it wouldn't allow me to enter anything. I relaunched the service center and was again presented with only 3 fields. My original spektral delay did use only 3 fields and the same serial number that now says is incorrect for the komplete 4 version.
    All other instruments in komplete 4 have been activated.
    Another more serious problem I'm having with the service center is that I just updated frome Komplete 4 to 5 directly from NI, installed using serial number in box, but it won't activate saying my serial # will not export. Think these issues are related in some way? NI has not responded. Been 4 days. Thanks for your insight but I'm still stumped.

    just checked old registration

    The spektral delay version using the 3 field serial number was and is successfully registered with NI. So I don't see why that still presents a problem.

    I had a copy of Service Centre that did not work, that on the installation DVD.
    I tried the new one -sent to me by suport centre-and after some trying that did the job.
    I had- and have- according to the Service Centre- also the new one, which is odd or buggy, all wrong serial numbers, but in my case that doesn't seem to matter.
    I know, there are to many fields for the serial numbers...
    I'll provide you with my emailadress, and will return the link they sent me.

    got spektral delay to activate,here's how

    Deleted service center on my G5, although it was the same latest version that I then reinstalled.
    Apparently it doesn't install well on top of previous version. Now the spektral delay shows 5 serial number fields. Had to enter the numbers twice to get it to finally turn black(valid). Still can't get Komplete 5 to activate, says my serial # will not export. You know, the number that came inside my Komplete 5 update directly from NI. Come on NI, this is nuts!

    GS, glad to see that you're having a little progress with your trouble! Gives me a little more hope of my own. (a little)

    Regarding alternate locations, of course I tried my OS X partition multiple times. Only then did I try others, with the same results: installer starts to install, but then backs up one window to the location selector stage.

    Hope you get everything ironed out soon!

    maybe NI can help, don't hold your breath

    I'm sure you've run your disk utility or other repair utility. Sounds like something is up on that mac. Had an early G4 (yikes board) that my son has it now. It did not digest anything to do with NI very well. However, if NI says it should work with your system, then the onus is on them. But don't hold your breath waiting for them to respond. It's been 5 days for me. Good luck , wish I could be more help.
