I analyzed all my mp3's in Traktor Pro the "Place auto BeatGrid Marker" option unchecked.

Now that I know what it does, I've checked the option and tried analyzing all my mp3's again to have auto BeatGrid markers set.

Traktor Pro cannot do this because of the previous analyzis (Traktor considers the mp3's as analyzed and refuses to update them).

Since Traktor Pro writes it's data to ID3v2 "private tags" there is no way to get rid of the Traktor data (at least not in a batch). Your mp3's will be "lost forever" (or until Native Instruments fixes this problem).

    CAUTION!
If you analyze your tracks with the "Place auto BeatGrid Marker" option unchecked, you cannot get auto BeatGrid markers for your tracks again unless Native Instruments fix this problem!

    What? Right/Ctrl Click > 'Analyse (async) .
Have the "Place auto BeatGrid Marker" option checked.

That doesn't work if you've already analyzed them once with the "Place auto BeatGrid Marker" option UNchecked.

Didn't you read my post? :S

    Thanks for the reply though.

lol you will have to set the markers manually if you want them now. It's not hard, Traktor 3 made you set every one manually. And next time, if you don't know what a particular setting does, leave it alone!

    Lol?

I'd like to see you laugh if you had a couple of thousands of songs which you had to do manually when there is an automatic option.

I removed the setting because I didn't want fishy auto beatgrid markers before I knew what they did. In this particular case this was a "wrong" decision because of this Traktor Pro bug . However, in a generic case it is not.

First of all, yes i read your post thats why i answered , what a stupid remark to make to someone trying to help.

Secondly i was asking if that method i wrote would work, you didnt say wether you had done it. If it doesnt work then your screwed and you will have to set your own grids. Maybe if you had read what "Place auto BeatGrid Marker" option meant before you analysed your collection you would not be asking this.

Depending on the number of tracks it may be quicker to import your collection from scratch to get the grids as it will take some time one by one.
    Just a thought, happy beatgridding:D

EDIT: a couple of thousand tracks will take about 3 hours to analyse, time well spent.

I have beatgridded many thousands of tracks manually. It is not a big deal. It won't take more than 10 hours, and after it is done, it is done. BTW the auto grids still need checked to make sure they are accurate.

And this is not a bug. It is intentional behaviour. You told Traktor you didn't want auto grid markers. You got just that.

Yup ive done 1000s manualy , at least you know they are done correctly especially good for playing tracks live that you havent played before.

Personally ive had great results with the auto-grid though i hear some people are getting very mixed results.

A couple of 1000 tracks will not take long .

Sorry about that remark, I just felt it was obvious I had already tried that option and was a bit (is a bit) grungy with NI .
    Thanks again for both replies.

I would definitively consider it a bug that Traktor Pro doesn't put AutoGrid markers into my mp3's, when I tell Traktor I want AutoGrid markers, just because I once didn't want them.

Or is this some kind of "blue or red pill" option? If so, they could at the very least MENTION that when you fiddle with it...
Just look at how clear Morpheus made it to Neo.

Also, one should probably consider software that automatically adds information to your files, without offering you any means to remove it, malicious.

Anyway, don't want to end up on a dart-target at the NI office. This is some wicked software you're developing and I know how hard it is to develop this stuff and how trolls in the forums are a pain in the a**.

But please. Consider fixing this in a future update.

Now I'm off to beat grid some tracks.

    Hey no sweat man.

Me being a bit lazy i think i would just delete the collection and re-import with the autogrid option. A few 1000 tracks wont take long. Ive had pretty god results with autogrid. Dunno what genre of music you have but the electronic stuff of mine is bang on.

I tried doing that but it doesn't work. Traktor Pro writes the analyzed stuff into the mp3 file itself. So it will always recognize that mp3 as already analyzed no matter what you do. You could even move it to a different computer :(

Thanks for the tip though. I've tried removing the stuff Traktor wrote into the mp3 but that's not possible to do on multiple files.

Ah yes of course, thats a bummer.
Im guessing you didnt make a complete backup of your mp3s prior to installing PRO. Ive got a backup of iTunes and Traktor 3 made the day i installed PRO so that if i had any probs with PRO i could feasibly start again with none PRO written mp3s but then thats cus im using T3 until im familiar with PRO and i didnt trust Pro not to f*ck my T3 collection.

To be honest i wouldnt know were to begin with extracting the stuff Pro wrote to the mp3, your way ahead of me on that one..!

I should've done that too I guess. Only started using Traktor 3 a few weeks ago though so I wasn't really prepared for anything like this to happen.
Just for informational purpose there's a program for Win/PC that's called AllFrames Tagger which can edit/remove the Traktor Pro stuff one mp3 at a time.

Superfit, I totally sympathise with you - this has just happened to me. Karlos, I agree with the backup strategy. I'm going to get my collection straightened out then do regular backups especially before attempting any wide ranging changes.

This said, I do agree with Superfit that TP is being a bit aggressive in writing to private tags that I am unable to wipe if I get into trouble. It's a bit like someone graffiting my CD collection :-( At least I know what to do now. Backup :)
