OK Nik. However, if Pioneer is willing to put out a limited edition model it means that they will have their worth in time regardless of what's coming or expected to come.

They do work great with this new OS and the negative notion being implied by everyone as a so-called "death" isn't realistic. If they implement blah blah means something better or worse commercially available. They aren't dead and they haven't lost their worth because it is a solid standard for a multi-media deck. MK3s are discontinued too but you can still find them in many booths so may'be now the diehards will bump up to the next model and begin using them instead. It's OK.

Am understanding this wrong or are you implying that Master Tempo is some kind of Sync functionality for the CDJs? Because Master Tempo is just Pioneer's naming for their key lock system.

Not going to debate this for nine more pages (doesn't help Advanced HID). The basic answer lies in the manual of the CDJs and the real answer on how people use it (and how some try to apply it) can be found elsewhere. For 'starters', read the user replies on the latest OS fix (up to the point when I posted that) and make up your own mind.

im very glad i found this thread, i was just about to fork out £500 for tsp2 and audio 10, but instead ive choosen to get serato instead, i know its seen as not a good choice, the latency issues of tsp2 simply isnt an option for me, such a a shame really....

The recent price reductions are clearly indicating that the Timecode-Market has seen better times...

Having a choice and making a decision based on your needs and budget are most important. Nothing is truly lacking on either side...use what you want. I've decided to get Serato recently after having Traktor for years and I no longer feel that stigma about who uses what. Both companies are doing their own thing best and offering what they can to everyone. There will be different experiences for all DVS users but have no shame in wanting to get Serato or Traktor or Mixvibes or Torq or etc. based on your needs and budget.

If you get to use more than one, you may arrive at an answer as to which one is better for you but it won't apply to everyone so just be happy with whatever you find is best for you.

If NI hasn't implemented Advanced HID by this update, I don't think they ever will. Real DJ's use CDJ's, not controllers. If NI ever wants to appeal to the Serato DJ's in the world, they're gonna have to take some time away from introducing 8,000 new controllers, and work on the software a little bit. I'm not a software engineer, but I don't see why this would be so hard if they already have standard HID implemented.

A lot would argue about "Real DJs" use turntables not CDJs. :D

    he he.... very true.....!

using a CDJ is just like using a controller really without the sync button ...!

but each to his own !

I have to admit that I haven't see too many DJs (outside of the US) using Serato these days. I think that even timecode with Traktor is getting a bit scarce because phono turntables aren't everywhere anymore and the CDJs, as stable as they are, they are kind of becoming my back-up plan if it all goes to crap.

I have a Serato SL4 pack arriving in a few days and I'm 85% in favor of returning it. I only ordered it because I'm using Ableton Live a lot and needed to try the Bridge. However, it ain't that serious. I can continue doing what I do (using Live and Traktor) even though Advanced HID, Scratch Certification and the Bridge ain't here.

I think I'll stick with Traktor. I could have other things in Serato, but I'd lose a bunch of things I've become comfortable with.

Couldn't have said it any better.

My boss bought me a pair of CDJ 2000's and the DJM 900 Nexus. I still play with Technics turntables (my taste). However, I assumed that hooking the CDJ's with USB allowed me to make use it as a controller, without lag. But boy... what a bad business of NI by not supporting this. It's like a normal computer manufacturer not supporting USB 2.0 but using USB 1.0 only.

We should take it higher, not posting it on the forum. Bundle our demands, talk to the ones who are responsible. If we don't get any response, talk to their bosses. Until we get a decent response. It aint that crazy, we are paying customers. We need good products and services. Just like that.

NI will never implement Advanced HID. They want to sell their own controllers. If they added Advanced HID support, then no one would buy their controllers anymore. They are looking at this from a business point-of-view. I can't say that I blame them, even though I wish they would add the functionality.

That's why I have given up on Traktor. I'm sticking with my CDJ-2000s and Rekordbox.

    It's a bloody shame.

Is it possible to simultaneously use Traktor Pro Scratch for 2 technics turntables and RekordBox for the CDJs?

If Serato would just implement a really good beat & tempo Sync feature (in their top level software) and enable more controller mapping ease in their software - it would really rival Traktor. I hate to be the one to say it but that feature not being in their top level software - is actually the one thing that keeps them from being in a dead heat with Traktor. Tech Tools and everyone tries to play nice, talking about strong preferences of DVS in the US vs. Europe but NI is adamant that there is no specific type of DJ using their software or the other. We wouldn't put up with a lot of things. They've got Advanced HID, Traktor doesn't. Serato aren't a bunch of chumps and we have our choices.

I finally got Serato SL4 - I'm not returning it and I'm also not ditching Traktor.
In the end, it's all about what works best for you to express yourself as a ______.
We do have choices and we can stop worrying about if it's wrong to switch or stay - get what will enable you to do what you want to do and figure it out.

I strongly doubt that this is the real reason why the Advanced HID is still not implemented.

Other controllers from Denon, Pioneer are also implemented very profressional and like a pro user would expect it.

In my opinion a simple compare between controllers that cost between $250 - $900 and a pair of CDJ 2000 CD-Players(/controllers) for nearly $4000 is simply not fair or even a complete other playground. Its a different product and market.

NI would never ruin its own market when they support just another possible feature of these decks. They build good controllers and these ones fit perfect for their software.

It's still unopened....haven't been convinced enough to switch for Advanced HID and the Bridge...they've got a lot of work to do. I look at Mixarchitekt's new tsi for one or two K2's and realize that ain't going to work with Serato....I've had the urge to open it up but I am thinking "next time", I'm sticking with Traktor Scratch Pro 2.

    Lost a customer

I have been a user of Traktor for over three years now. I like Traktor and have been very happy with the software and hardware products. I just bought two new Pioneer CDJ 2000 and a DMJ 900 Nexus. After hooking everything up I discovered it doesn't work that well with Traktor in HID mode as all my research said it would. After spending $6000 on a new setup, I felt very disappointed with Traktor. I was looking forward to getting two new F1 controllers as I have a deposit on them already. Not having support for these players in Advanced HID like other companies is now making leave NI and go back to SS. Most of the places I travel to and play now have the Pioneer setup. This makes it easy because all I need to bring is my mac and and a X1 controller and hook into their system and play like I'm at home. Upgrading to the industry standard has now made me leave NI along potential software and hardware purchases from NI.
