I've got a slight set-up issue. I can't seem to figure out how to set up my 400s as Midi controllers.

The way I've got it set-up is the two CDJ-400s are connected to my computer via USB. The Audio 8 is connected to my computer via USB and I've got the channels on the Audio 8 running to the DJM-500 via RCAs. So the CDJ-400s are independent from the Audio 8/DJM-500.

However if I'm understanding this correctly, to set up the CDJs as Midi Controllers I need to select them as Audio Device in the Audio Set-Up, which is where my Audio 8 is selected as my sound card. So uhh... how do I make this work?

I'm really hoping that getting the Audio 8 DJ wasn't redundant.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I'm running Windows XP

no you do not need to select the cdj 400 as the soundcard.

the cdj sound output is only one stereo channel ( a piece). the audio8 has 4 stereo output channels.

i have both my 4 outputs of the audio 8 connected to my mixer (so i can use 4 seperate decks in traktor at a time) as well as the cdj's directly (for spinning normal cd's if someone comes along with a request that he happens to have on cd.

just checking that you know to set your cdj's into USB mode
what is important to know is What kind of traktor are you running (traktor Pro, traktor pro scratch, traktor le, traktor duo, traktor duo scratch) and which version of the softare (for instance 1.2.2)

    I'm running Traktor Pro v.1.2.2

Ok, so I get it to recognize the CDJs as Midi controllers now, but I can't seem to import a TSI file. Whenever I try to import one, it creates a General Midi controller, as opposed to importing it to the CDJ-400 controller I just created in the Controller Manager. For some reason I can't select the CDJ In Ports for the General Midi Controller.

I have (and will continue) to try mapping it myself, but when it comes to things like the jog wheel I have no idea how to properly map those.

my suggestion would be to remove the general midi controller's and the cdj400's all together in the mapping screen, and then import the ones found in

    C:\Documents and Settings\Ad Min\Mijn documenten\Native Instruments\Traktor\Settings\Default Settings\Pioneer

this dir (or your equivalent) should provide a mapping for the A and B channel for the cdj400

^ +1, the general midi mappings are going to interfere with the cdj400 midi mappings. just clear it all.

i dont know if its only me, but i find using the cdjs as timescodes a better option, but thats for you to decide.
