Anyone of you who DJ professionally know its the worst possible scenario that could happen. Came back on to finish the night after our main guest, a very very big name DJ. Brought my first track just as his almost finished and then out of nowhere the CDJ just stops. Complete silence. Could see the decks had stopped so immediately hit play again onit and nothing. Turn to CDJ2 to play the second track, its played for about 30 seconds then it stopped. Disater. No sound continued for well over a minute which as you all know in a club is like an eternity. Sound guys, other resident DJs where scrambling about asking me whats going on. Played CDJ 1 again, notihng , CDJ 2 again, nothing. So we quickly stuck in a regular CD which played straight away. Had to then go back to back with one of the other residnets and just play off his CDs for the rest of the night.

It was an ablsolute shambles, and very embarrassing for me. It was also quite an important gig for me.

So.... I would like to get to the bottom of this one. Heres a few other points worth bareing in mind.

Use 1000s in the club. Was also playing at the beginning of the night before the Main DJ and everything was working fine. DJ came on to do an hours live set on a completely different setup, so the CDJs, mixer, cables and everything I use where not touch or interfered with once.

5 mins before he was finishing I cued two tracks up and hit play and then dragged them back/forth with the jog wheel to make sure they where responding ok and both where fine.

My biggest concern here is that unlike other Traktor related issues that you tend to identify at the beginning of the night as you setup and thus ones that can be fixed prior to playing this one happened randomly. You could be playing for 3 hours then it just suddently stops. The fact that it happened on both CDJs and that regular CDs played completely fine after suggests that its ceretainly not a CDJ related issue.

I recently installed the lastest update 3 days ago onit aswell.

How do you suppose anyone to get to the bottom of anything without all specs and info?

    -OS
    -Version
    -Traktor version?
    -Audiocard?

    Jeez.

    Just a guess:

Sounds to me you're playing track 1 of the timecode CD's, with autocue activated on the Pioneers.
Track 1 is a lead in, that stops after 20 seconds if autocue is on.

Thats what I intially thought aswell. To the best of my knowledge autocue would be on both. Myself and another resident with him using 1210s done 20 minute back to back slots form 10 -12.30. There wasnt a single hitch throughout.

But I would agree that it does appear to be a cueing issue of some sort as I know how the 1000s in particular are funny with autocues. Can you explain how the cueing works then that it would stop the deck? Thanks.

Shouldn't you have autocue turned OFF on your CDJ's in order to use Track 1 for lead-in and move into Track 2 for the actual track play? That's my understanding of it anyway.

I never use it at home but in the club it usually on and I just leave it that way as other residents would use it. Its never interferred before. I would always just load a track, hit the track search back button and then press play.

If that is the case then I suppose thats good as I know its not a Traktor problem. Still cant for the life of me see how I could have manged to mess the cue up on both decks, seems very odd.

    Yes.

Track 1 can be used to scroll trough playlist, if activated in preferences.

^^See this is where I'm lost as I'm a vinyl monkey myself, and the scrolling feature is at the end of each record.

I have also had this problem occur on quite a number of times..

I usually use timecode vinyl, but now If I have to use timecode CD's on cdj1000's, then just as the track has started playing I switch straight into internal mode on that deck..

Not the best scenario, but It's my workaround..

I've also searched these forums looking for an answer, and found that many other people have also had this problem - but as yet I can find no reason of solution for it

I'll be interested to test if it is fact the autocue on the CDJ that is the problem.. I hadn't previously thought of that

    that's right - It shouldn't - but it does!
Happened to me several times - and to the original poster as well..
Not hating on traktor, but would be cool if we had an official response from NI

For sure. If there is some odd conflict between the autocue and Traktor it would be good to hear a response from NI. Tricky thing with this is you could set up and everything appear to be working fine then something goes wrong mid set and the msuic cuts completely which would be disatrous. Problem is youve no way of knowing until is happens. Hoepfully its juts a case of resetting the autocue or just having to turn it off completely.

Seems this problem has reared its usgly head again. Although this time its only occuring on Deck A and is always happening where as before it occured randomly. Basically if you hit Track search to knock it back to start of track 2, cue your track up and let it play it plays to 27 min 6 secs exactly then stops. Stays liek that for about 30 seconds then resumes again.

It deifnitely feels like its some setting because the issue is so specific in that it happens at a certain everytime. Anyone any ideas?
