wait til I get my brother on the scene ..

not sure but I think he actually means IIR, not FIR, since a 2nd order FIR cant have a highly peaked fq response ( unless it's in lattice form maybe ) ?

with a 2nd order IIR on the other hand you can have a pure tone from the go if you want to and it's easy to turn it into an oscillator ( I've built a whacky "physical analogue" synth based on this btw, maybe Ill post it to the library )

anyway - the filtering approach *is* interesting, that's actually all I wanted to say - and of course the rest of my statement was just idle sermon
"you can't have frequencies lower than the age of the universe" - sometimes a demon takes my brain for a horse I guess

back on the original topic : what I actually tried a couple of days ago, inspired by your soundgarden project, was to couple several resonators, each tuned to a distinct frequency, and each having some "soft adaptive" machenism that changes

the resonator so, that if it's amplitude gets too high, it does expand, if it gets to low it contracts, so that it keeps resonating at a resonable amplitude - forever

the expand-contract thing didnt work ( not sure if this could work at all if carried out in the right way or not ) so I added "sloppy" adaptive limiters that amplify or damp the resonator the idea was to built a forever-resonating sphere - "Sphärenmusik" - I've stopped working on this for now, because the result wasnt as exciting as I hoped - but I

think this approach could be interesting, though it's really difficult to built something like this in a way it sounds good- I think I should set up my temp library entry tomorrow, so I dont have to explain it any further - because even though it is difficult I think an approach that doesnt relay on random generators or pattern generators, but is somehow self adjusting, could be very intersting

btw- the Ars Electronica in Vienna is still looking for entries, I just got one of

their spam invitations - I think some people here should think about contributing their "art fag" stuff ( as s.o. put in another thread )I can imagine that teasing them with the possibility to create an installment of ( lets say ) 12 speakers, which is quite easy in Reaktor I assume ( the appropriate hardware provided ) will increase their appetite

what is "zilch" btw ? sounds like something kosher to eat to me
actually like something sweet, sloppy, and made with milk
