On one of my songs there is weirdness going on with pattern length. Normally when I click and drag on the Pattern Length number (I have circled it in blue on the screenshot) the pattern changes by one bar at a time. However on this song when I drag, it changes by tiny increments. It makes it hard to make patterns which synchronise with the metronome. What setting have I inadvertently changed? This is related to my recent post https://www.native-instruments.com/forum/threads/maschine-not-keeping-in-time.324380/#post-1613151. I have also posted a screenshot of the whole screen so you can check the settings. Thanks.

You have the "arrange" grid setting turned off: see below the Groups list, beside where it says 1 bar in the full screenshot, the little grid icon is deactivated, meaning that the grid length specified (in this, 1 bar) will not be used when changing Pattern/Section lengths and moving through the arranger.

Somewhat new to Maschine so please excuse what may be so obvious.. I searched the manual but I may not be comprehending. I noticed in the screen shot above of the Arrange view, the timeline is collapsed as is the Sections? How is this, what must you do for this to be? Thanks.

That's not Arrange View it's the Keyboard Mode's piano roll pattern. What do you mean collapsed?
    Oh.. 2nd screenshot... my bad.

You can zoom in/out of the Arranger area by either dragging up/down on its horizontal scroll bar or, if memory serves, using navigate mode on the controllers.

At the top of the Groups view, If you look at the timeline you will see bar 1 then bar 17? Also each of the Sections below it are all collapsed?

Scrolling up/down or even Maschines navigation does not scroll the bars or sections that small?

Not if you're scrolling them, but if you click on the scroll bar and drag up/down it zooms in/out. Resolution of your screen can also be a factor for how many Scenes/Sections will show, but I don't think that's what's happening here.

Thanks Mr36 but clicking on the scroll bar and dragging up down I cannot get any smaller than 1 bar increments? The pic of the timeline above is much smaller... Bar 1 - Bar 17 - Bar 33 ? I'm on a 27" iMac..

It also depends how much content you have in the Arranger. Pretty much, the more you have, the smaller you can condense it (as you can zoom out to see the whole arrangement*).

*There's probably a limit to this.

The bigger your patterns/scenes are the more they will collapse on zoom out.
It will only collapse if it has to in order to fit.

Tested it to an extreme just because...
I don't think there's a limit. the second marker is on bar 4097
