    Hello all,
im quite new to all this so have some basic question I would like to ask.

Basically been mixing now for 6 years, do some giggin mainly using CDJs etc. Must admit I am now learning more and more about the digital side of it all and have some question about progressing my set up to take in and take advantage of the possibilities that it all has to offer.

My current set up is a pair of MKII's, a cdj800 (mkII), cdj100 (mkIII) and an xone:62.
Im a contemplating purchasing a Apple laptop but have no previous real experience using their products. What models would you recommend for some one in my situation. Budget wise im pretty capable as long as its not silly money.
I have also been looking at xone:1D controllers, would I need 1 or 2? and is the xone:2D really worth the extra £?
Would I also need to purchase a sound card the fix it all together?

I obviously have the intention of purchasing NI traktor 3 to use with this set up, would that be everything that I would need?

I apologise if im talking nonsense and if I have left out any required information. Have taken time to read other threads and simmilar situations but would love for some personal specific recommendations/information before I start spending the £ to find it doesnt work.

Thanks to all in advance for any time and assistance given.

    take it easy

Do you want to be able to use your tables to control Traktor?

yeah would like to keep my options open,
traktor comes with time coded cd/vinyl simmilar to serato?

i would also like to go full out traktor controlled via midi for the looping and effects possibilities.

You will need to buy Traktor Scratch for timecode control. Notice the Xone 2D is more expensive since it has a built in souncard. Whether it is worth the extra money depends on whether you need/want the soundcard.

About MIDI controllers, it's all about finding the controller best for you. Xone 1D is great since it is very versatile. Be aware, two of them straight away could be overwhelming! Maybe start with just one?

if you buy Traktor Scratch, it comes with the Audio 8 soundcard

that's a pretty powerful beast right there.

upgrade to Traktor 3 for only a little more and you have a very powerful setup capable of 4 deck timecode mixing.

then you just need to decide on a midi controller - I use the Evolution X-Session - which one is best for you depends on what your DJ-ing requirements are

So if i want to continue to have timecoded interaction i need to purchase Traktor Scratch (so i can use this straight away with a laptop, so i can continue gigging etc) and then buy
Traktor 3 for full on digital manipulation with use of midi controllers.
does it matter if my xone62 isnt a full on digital mixer?

a few other questions aswell is in order to use traktor 3 I need to pre plan and sort the beats (as mentioned in some of the stickys) and also ive noticed some discussion that traktor does not work so well with WAV files (which is what i purchase)

you can use midi control with TS

wav and aif files sound better, but do not support ID3 tagging the way mp3, mp4 & other lossy compression formats
