Choosing an External Hard Drive

Hello Everyone,

I just purchased an MK3 with Komplete 13 (I don't even have it yet). I am running a newer Windows computer and would like to get a 1 terabyte SSD hard drive. I think I've narrowed it down to the Samsung T7 and T5. Is it worth spending the extra money for the faster T7 or will the T5 work just fine. Thanks for any info you can give me!!

 

Will make no sense at all. In fact, almost any ext SSD will be just fine as the limitation will be in the USB interface speed. Because it is just an ext storage drive and all you are using it for is to load a few hundred MB of samples or a plugin from it, you will get no benefit from faster speeds other than potentially slightly less time for an instrument to load.

Only really makes an actual difference if you expect to run hundreds of streaming audio tracks from the drive or you need huge amounts of both read and write speeds to record. If you are a typical home user, just get the cheaper and spend the extra on something else.
