I found a way to alter the volume fades under the modulation scripts for each layer. However, you'd have to redraw the fade peaks for each layer. I spent the time to redraw 4 of the 6 layers as equal power fades instead of the linear ones already programed and it sounds almost perfect. This way there is only a small section where two samples are heard at the same time. It would be awesome to attach something like http://nilsliberg.se/ksp/scripts/scripts.html#crossfade this to do it for me.

Yeah, I'd like to know how other libraries are able to accomplish it too. My guess is that samples are triggered as the dynamics change and the x-fade duration is shorter so there is no need for phase aligned samples. Not really sure. Anyway, thank you so much for the help implementing this! Cheers!

Cool! I haven't got any experience working with Kontakt scripts so I'd need directions if I were to try to do something like that (I mean I might be able to figure it out but it would be easier if someone would how me ;)

Glad to know I was able to help out in some small way. The Hein libraries are, in spite of some of their shortcomings, still my go-to libraries for most instrument types (I use LASS for ensemble and divisi strings) so any way of improving them is worth investigating! Keep us posted if you make any other discoveries or progress :)

I was disappointed to discover the crossfade issue on CH Solo Cello but not motivated enough to complain since it was still a good value for me even with that obvious flaw. I recently grabbed the free upgrade to version 2.0, the so called EXtended edition. I think the issue might be fixed. I didn't exhaustively test all articulations, but what I did try was all sounding better to my ears. Maybe worth a try!

Yeah I am eager to try the new version and have it downloaded but unfortunately I cannot because it requires a newer version of Kontakt (I wish it specified which one exactly, and have asked Chris but not heard back). I am still on Mavericks which means I can't get past 5.6.something so this is going to necessitate updating my system (late 2009 Mac Pro, so can't do High Sierra, which means I have to somehow get a hold of an installer for something like Yosemite or El Capitan before I can try the new solo strings.. ) Good to know that they sound better, though.

I recently picked up Chris Hein Solo Strings Complete EX.

    Pretty happy so far.

Admittedly, i am new to hyper-realistic string libraries (beyond VSL).

I am not noticing any issues with CC xfade compared to keyboard dynamics.

Again, i may not have the "ears" for it, as you say.

Also looking at LASS 2.5 for a complimenting ensemble.

Stratoculture666, have you tried the latest CH Solo Strings?

I seem to remember reading somewhere the PAS issue had been fixed with this new release.

    Hi frederic,

I have the latest Solo Strings, but I confess I haven't tried the Xfade to test if the issue is still there or not. If it is there, note that it is more audible in certain parts of the instrument's range. The lower notes tend to be the most obvious, so if you listen on headphones to the Xfade vs. Keyboard, you should hear it. It's fairly obvious, and I'm shocked that anyone can't hear it. It could be that it's fixed though.

I'll emphasize that I still love the CH stuff and I especially like that he keeps adding instruments. The 2.0 update basically doubles the amount of choices you have for each instrument and some of the new ones are now my favorites. It is still my go-to solo string library despite the flaws mentioned.

I can definitely recommend LASS as well. I've done a number of pieces with both LASS and CH and I think they compliment one another pretty well, since they're both capable of being fairly dry. I have a few other ensemble libraries as well, including Albion One, Heaviocity's Novo, and some 8dio stuff, and LASS is the only one of those that I actually use.

I will try to test out the Xfade option later tonight and get back to you on whether I think it's still there.

    Excellent.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I've been using mostly VSL chamber and solo.

I've resisted the latest gen of hyper-real strings.

Until i heard the CH solo stuff.

Plus nothing beats a 2 for 1 deal.

Ultimately, i am looking for a complimetary chamber and solo setup.

I recently grabbed Soundiron's Hyperion Micro for under $40.

Interesting package, great UI with the promise of larger installments.

    Spitfire Chamber
    8Dio Century
    LASS 2.5
    Berlin
    Light & Sound
    ...

CSS/CSSS is out for lack of solo contrabass.

May just hang tight until Black Friday.

    Ha!!! Sure.

    Thanks again.

Someone sent me a link to this discussion, which I haven't seen before.
I didn't read all your comments.

There has been a phase align issue which only affected the Solo Cellos and Solo Contrabasses.
This issue has been fixed with an update 2019.
Its still true, that I got only one email from a customer complaining about it.

Please contact me personally if you have any issues with any of my libraries.
