Right, So ive got me a synth using some blocks. but wanted to make it simpler, so Ive hidden some of the controls.

Now I have some blocks with only one knob in etc. It looks messy.

Whats the easiest way to end up with a clean panel - can I make another panel and overlay that?

    Speak in noob-friendly terms please

    In noob friendly terms:
    Don't use blocks!
Instead, build your synth as an 'instrument'.

Ive found that some graphical elements seem locked to the panel somehow. I cant move them, and cant seem to find any way of unlocking them. Does anyone know what thats all about?

probably you're dealing with stacked macros, you need to select the stacked macro in the structure then you can move it around with the arrow keys or turn on the macro frame and drag the whole thing around with that.

    very annoying, stacked macros...

yes - the sense of blocks is to show how nice and simple it is to create an electronic instrument.
The sense of Blocks isn't to change the panel.
So next step is to build an instrument with own ideas not using the blocks template which is extremly complex.

I would love to be able to build my own instrument with all elements created by me from the ground up, alas, I dont know how to realise all my ideas yet. Im going to push through though

As an intermediate measure you could use IC sends and knobs in another instrument in the same ensemble as your blocks. Attach each knob to an IC send and point the send toward a particular control in the blocks. Hide the blocks from view and you've got one single GUI.
