Collection Search Options

One thing I find annoying is that occasionally I have tracks added to my collection but which haven't been added to any playlist or favourites.

It would be great to be able to specify a search for all tracks NOT IN PLAYLISTS yet.

That way I could then sort them into the places they need to go.

While I'm on this rant, the other thing I thought would be useful is to 'link' batches of tracks together, so that one could click a button called e.g. 'related tracks' and then all the tracks in that batch appear. This would be especially useful for reggae & dancehall where many versions of the same track &/or riddim are extant in the genre..

 

Yes, some sort of "Not in Playlist" filter would be great. Someone please make this happen.

+1 for the second as well. For now I'm just searching by riddim. Not fully efficient but I get by.

 

He, why not, a relational collection (instead of database ).

Maybe a grouping function: so you can group a release, and see one line for every release, and be able to expand it. But when you don't expand and just drag the release to a deck, Traktor will load a predefined track on the release (for example the extended mix is loaded by default, while there is a radio mix, a robert abigail mix and a crookers remix too!)

But a track can be in several groups: Off course the release group is a nobrainer, but you could also group all the remixes of a track together, while they are spread out over 5 'various artist' CDs, and 2 singles So the tracks from the single would be existant in 2 groups?

Just thought of a way you can get Trainspotter to do the "Not in playlist yet" thing - create a dynamic playlist using all the tracks in the collection, but in the "Playlists to exclude" select all your playlists that you maintain manually (the non-dynamic ones). You then get a playlist of stuff not in a playlist.

I would have thought it would be fairly straightforward for NI to add a column to the collection browser called something along the lines of "#Playlists". You could then easily sort your tracks so the ones with a 0 came at the top.
