Coming back to Traktor after 7 years

I'm coming back to traktor after 7 years and I'm in need of some hardware advice.

I'm currently interested in running a controller for decks A and B; would LOVE to have accessibility to remix decks (going to run them on deck C and D) easily without having to keep my eyes on the PC the whole time.

With that said, I was thinking of going for (2) X1s (found some X1 mk1 pretty cheap) and a Z2 mixer. Then I was going to toss in a MIDI Fighter Twister from DJTT to control stems, FX, etc- but now I'm thinking that I would be overlapping too much, and trying to stay within a 1500 budget (preferably less, for obvious reasons). I was also thinking maybe (1) X1, (1) F1 and a Z2 would work and toss the Twister in for more advanced things later?

So need some advice on the most optimal way to drop tracks on deck A and B, then add remix loops and stem usage to deck C and D (is this the correct way of thinking or am I missing something?).

    Thanks!

In your case I'd say the best combo is a Z2 and 2xF1. The X1 is a must have in combination with a Z1 or an external mixer, but it won't add much value to a Z2 since most of its functionality is integrated in the Z2. F1s are the best options for remix decks. You could also consider just one F1 because it allows you to switch between the remix decks but that can be a bit of a hassle in the heat of the moment when you are focused on mixing.

Thanks for the reply! I'm actually leaning more toward the Xone DB2 after watching/reading reviews; found a second hand one for $650, which would fit in my budget (getting X1 second hand as well). Thinking that with 1 X1 and 2 F1s?

    Thanks for the help!

To be honest I don't know if the Xone DB2 works with Traktor without using an additional audio interface like the A6 but I bet others can tell you about that. If so you are good to go but keep in mind you also require to purchase Traktor license (which is included when you buy a Z2).

And I would try to manage with one F1 first, you can always buy a second one later. Good luck

It has an on board sound card, so it should work in that regards (from everything I'm reading).

Should I go with 1 or 2 X1s and then just 1 F1 for now? Or just 1 X1 and 1 F1? Pretty confusing trying to piece all this together LOL

One X1 is sufficient to control decks A and B both.

Thanks for all the help @Scratch-E Con ; I do have 1 more question, and maybe someone can help me with this.

I'm currently planning on buying TSP2 (via NI website). Now, I am also buying the X1, F1 and mixer second hand via ebay. After putting in my bids, I started thinking about product registration/drivers. Will I not be able to use the 2nd hand stuff with my own copy of TSP2 b/c I'm buying 2nd hand, I know they can un-register it-the seller- but in case they don't/can't am I screwed?

    Thanks for any help

The only thing that requires registration is TSP and not the hardware connected to it. So this won't be a problem at all.
