I have read somewhere that there will be a complete new Traktor software which will be released in a view weeks.

My question would be if this is true or not because I was considering to buy an additional license of Traktor Pro.
Of course it would not make sense to buy it now if there will be new software and we don't know how the upgrade/cross grade possibility will be.

Did someone hear about it too and how trustful is this information ?

hi there. NI mentioned a few weeks ago that they are working on a new hardware and software. And last week they mentioned about an announcement. Whether they are linked I do not know. I don’t think they will say until what ever it is arrives. My hope is for a new all in one with Traktor Pro driving it with nice screens, stems and remix decks. Would I want platters, maybe, maybe not. Maybe they have some Mashine integration. Who knows. I have Denon gear at the moment but I’ve always really liked Traktor.

Where are you guys getting your info from?

We all know there will be at least one new kontroller for sure. But NI usually does these kinds of things in February.

All you’re gonna get for now are new beta versions with incremental feature updates for testing.

Think I first say the announement on Digital dj tips few weeks back, and there was a link to the NI website. Everything else what I have said is speculation. I agree with what your saying. The next update from the public beta will be an incremental update. Might be something juicy though. They have come on loads since I was last here, under a different name as I couldn't remember my log in details. If they do announce in Feb ill be happy with that. I have my denon gear so I am happy, but a new shiny or not so shiny NI Traktor controller would be just great.

Do you think it makes sense to sell my S4 MK3 now before the new hardware is released ?
I mean I always was waiting on a remarkable firmware update but with a new hardware I don't think this will happen ever.

Available DJ software is really somehow unsatisfying. Its like a playground for companies to get our money and never deliver what we really want. :-(
Could be so easy and satisfying for us.

I would hang on. MK3 is a great controller. I kinda regret getting rid of mine. Never know with NI, could be another 6 months or more before anything new is released.

I have the same feeling. When I look at any dj products from different companies. Admittedly, they still need to stick to different classes of products on the market, from budget to premium, but they always seem to be a little greedy for features.
In fact, a dream setting can be done now, these are stand-alone players, a cool mixer, various effects. If you want to go in the direction of live performance, then you can buy push 2, maschine mk3 or akai mpc40 mk2, but if you calculate how much it will cost, then it is unlikely that a musician will invest even in 10k.

What we expect from dj products is to get up to $1000-2000 (middle segment) a little more than we are being offered now. Because basically, the most discontent is in this middle segment. At the entry level, with a controller cost of $300, the buyer gets a good start-up kit for the first year. But if you take the Traktor s2 mk3 and the Traktor S4 mk3, then there will not be such a big difference (in terms of functions), but the difference in price will be almost 3-4 times.

I always think carefully about what I buy now. Nothing is made these days without something being omitted. I can’t find a replacement for my DN-x600 mixer. Even the $2000 rane and pioneer button box 2ch mixers can’t do what the x600 does. I had the x1850 for awhile and got rid of it.

I find that I can do more with my standalone setup than I could do with Traktor. It’s not that Traktor can’t do the same but it’s just not as quick and slick.

New hardware will be X1mk3 or just another colour of the actual controllers.

I think most of us agree that it will be an x1mk3 but I also think z2mk2 will probably show up too. Usually a new version of the software accompanies the new gear.

What’s also interesting is that Ecler is releasing a new mixer in February too. Who knows, they might be cooperating again.

What did you not like on the x1850. I was already considering to buy one if it would have been available.
I think it provides the most flexibility a mixer could provide. For digital and analog. To be able to route digital on a mixing channel seams to be great. If I want such a functionality for my S4 mk3 I have to run Traktor in the background. In stand alone mode I can use only the audio interface with 4 out.

Honestly, I would have expected a firmware upgrade for S4 mk3 to fix MIDI and audio possibilities. For hardware with upgrade possibilities, not to provide any updates for years is bad. There could have been plenty improvements only related to the display.

If NI is updating X1 they should consider to update Z1, Z2 and F1 as well. The housing of X1, Z1, F1 is not matching the current products. If it would, I already would have bought a F1 to extend my S4 since long.

It’s too big and the send/return is not ideal for samplers or for anything.

The send/return on the x600 is perfect. I can use the internal fx, use external fx, samplers and use Traktor fx post fader while controlling it from the mixer. All without worrying about phasing issues and feedback issues. It only works with Traktor on windows now but even without the sound card and USB features it’s still a good and unique mixer for standalone use. I’ll probably get another one if no one produces an equivalent.

The only thing I could imagine from actual NI, aside x1mk3 which was near to stated, is an standalone z2 mixer ala M+ or similar solution but I will not advice anyone holding their breath until that emerges (if someday arrives).
S4mk3 has been even more fail than S8/D2 due lack on the software side and competition doing well (ddj1000). The business drama (rumours about selling the division) made almost a even larger lag in releases so to get such Z2mk(4?) or whatever… NI should must have been working against the clock…
Traktor4 based on Traktor Dj2? Well that will be like SSL >>> Itch 2.0 >>> Sdj back in the day and also the same M-audio did with Torq and Xponent >>> Torq 2… the person behind Torq was the person behind torq Xponent (s2mk0) S4mk1 and mk3 (Chad Carrier) and also the person behind stems… now gone from NI and working just as consultant (previously gone from M-audio when Air Team get Torq2). I can miss some dots or be imprecise but the sequence is more or less that. Chad Carrier has a haptic technology startup which probably was the busines behind s4mk3 jogwheels. Also by his linkedin,he was behind z2…

    https://www.digitaldjtips.com/2015/09/the-story-of-stems-chad-carrier-interview/

So, it could be possible? Sure… but maybe as partnership with third party as it was stated long ago (after the rumours/negotiations ended and Pedram joined the forum to hype us a bit).

As I said, I will not hold my breath… meanwhile I’m getting ready my djplayerpro setup and also a Reloop Touch+Vdj2021 as karaoke-like setup (with stems). Vdj demo version works flawless on my trusty mac mini late 12 and I will treat them as standalone (and buy an M1 as soon as possible). NI needs to hurry up to get almost on par IMO.

I am guessing something with cloud integration and a license model.. But I am hoping scripting functionality and improved controller integration.

I’m actually satisfied with my Traktor setup. The s2mk2 with my laptop or DJPP on my iPad with the Akai amx is what I use for paid DJ gigs. Everthing else stays home for self gratification.
