When i load an old project that used the .wavs, the missing samples dialoue box appears. When I try searching for the samples and batch re-saving, Kontakt only decides to find the original wavs, which I haven't deleted. It simply doens't recognize the compressed files! I'd like to continue my older unfinished projects but I can't since I'd have to go and reload every single instrument over again.

Would someone be able to help me? I'd appreciate assitance immensely. Please pardon me for some misspellings; this forum doesn't seems to freeze whenever I try to edit a word or insert one in my post. I can't right click either.

Here's the thing - when you do a batch compression in Kontakt, it only resaves your NKI files. It does NOT look for all your DAW project files and renames sample references in them! There are too many DAWs with too different project file formats to do that.

So you need to load your projects again. The "missing samples" dialog will pop up. No worries! Just tick "Allow alternative file types" checkbox ACTIVE, and let it find the NCWs, then save the projects again.

I also suggest moving away (not deleting) the original WAVs from the Samples folder before opening your projects, in that case Kontakt will search for your compressed NCWs.

Ah thanks, but I have a small hard drive capacity, unfortunately. With the samples and uncompressed ncws, I have about 60 Gb left. I've backed up the samples on an external drive though.

By the way, could you recommend an affordable firewire 800 7200 rpm external drive that works for mac, and is meant for file storage? There are a lot of cheap and even expensive drives that are utter junk and only meant for backup. I need something for professional storage. That's why I compressed my files- I'm running out of space and am trying to prolong the inevitable.

I guess any drive would work with Mac, depending on how you format it?

I was hoping for a specific recommendation, but at least the compression issue is solved. Thanks for helping :).

I don't use external drives so can't recommend you one. :)

Although I do prefer Samsung and WD instead of Seagate or any others. :)
