I have this problem without relocating playlists. I'm fairly new to Traktor and last night spent 3 hours sorting playlists. I manually saved the collection at each major step (i.e. analysing tracks, completing playlist etc). I closed Traktor last night, opened it this morning and my playlists are blank. I opened the collections that I saved, and the playlists are still blank. I'll downgrade I guess. This is pretty poor.

Rather than contacting support for the downgrade, can a link be added somewhere for it? I've spent enough time (days) trying to figure out why my playlists keep disappearing, finding workarounds etc without having to wait for a support response for a link. It'd also be a great idea to send an email to those with 2.6.6 to guide them through a downgrade while the bug is fixed.

Ok, I managed to get myself back to 2.6.5 without waiting for the support guys (I'm in New Zealand so working while the northern hemisphere sleeps). You can download 2.0.3 from here then download the 2.6.5 update from the support page and activate the product again in the service centre. Fingers crossed this means I get to keep all the work I do for the next few hours getting my playlists and track info back up to scratch ('scuse the pun)

NI did that in the past a few times with barely any effort, so they dont anymore.

at the end of the day we're all human. and the bug does not appear with every workflow. e.g. until i tried transferring stuff to my new computer, i had zero issues with 2.6.6. in TEN years of working with traktor, this is the second time a major bug makes it into a release. **** happens to all of us at one time. you're ready to throw the first stone? ;)

why so complicated? why not just start 2.6.5 from the backup folder?

I also confirm that this is happening to me also. Somehow iTunes changed some music folders and i had to relocate. tracks are found and relocated sucessefuly but when i reopen tractor these relocated tracks are missing.

    is there a solution?

Do people not know that you can just load 2.6.5 from the Native Instruments directory? You don't have to install anything. Or, are you guys erasing the old versions before you've tested the new one?

The whole point is this: when you install a new update, the previous version stays on your computer. You try out the new version, and hopefully everything works for you. However, if there are problems, no big deal; you just open the last working version.

You should never erase a functional, fully working version before you are certain the new one is working for you. In fact, why not just always keep the last working version on your computer just in case? Why are you making it so complicated? Am I missing something?

Some people are not installing every update, like me for example. I check what's new in update and if there are things that i don't even use, such as those NI controllers and their functionality improved in the app, i just skip for the same reason - the version i have is working fully and i don't want to mess something up. But sometimes you decide to install update because you skipped already 4 versions, so you do it. You see there is a problem and you still want to have latest but working version, that's why we are going back to 2.6.5, not to 2.6.1. But yeah it's not complicated at all to download earlier version and install it the regular way, it will copy your latest stuff and will become main on your computer by default. Just in this case if you still managed to update your playlists in 2.6.6, you need your latest state and you are sure nothing will be empty - you have to copy collection file from 2.6.6 folder to 2.6.5 and replace it. Also with the folder "Coverart" i had to do the same this time. It wasn't so bad. Happily not so much work was lost and this bug noticed in time.

Perhaps if I knew that, or if NI proactively suggested the correct work-around rather than simply suggesting I contact support (you're own suggestion in this post) I would not have wasted the time I did. Thanks for the smug response though (such defensive responses seem to be endemic).

I am trying to share my findings here for other users. I'd prefer a more constructive response than asking why I am over complicating things.

I would also note that manually saving the collection does nothing to help the situation. 2.6.6 in my opinion is stuffed. The reason some emotions are running high is that the mistake has hit an area that is important to digital DJ'ing: the playlists. A bug that makes them disappear is going to be frustrating.

As an end note, 2.6.5 is working fine and I am again enamoured with Traktor (which I have supported as a product for years even while not using it professionally until now). I look forward to future releases that have passed QA, and will be much more cautious of what I install.

i'm still waiting for my" standard read this hyperlink" response from the native ticket opened on the 27th.

i should get my mates at lessthan3 .com music magazine to do a test on controllers , shame native into becoming more active with their so called customer support.

    a) there's a difference between asking for 2.6.5 full version (e.g. because you have a computer that hasnt seen any older version) and going to 2.0.x to then update to 2.6.5 - the latter is really in any way more complicated.

    b) parallel installs is a very old thing now for traktor. it's also mentioned in the manual (chapter 2.2 Also, your
previous TRAKTOR version will not be uninstalled. This means that from now on you’ll always be able to easily return to the last version if needed.
) and i bet it's mentioned in the KB as well, let alone my tutorial, which has been downloaded around 9k times so far. the info is there!

as already stated, it seems that this workaround is also only valid for certain workflows. i spread information as soon as i have it. i also made it a "maybe", not a "written in stone" workaround.

absolutely. which is why i made emergency threads in the english and german forums and started quite some fuss at NI immediatly.

again, that's why traktor does have the parallel installs. in the unlikely case that sth bad is happening, you can easily rollback to the previous version. or try the new version at home while using the older version live etc. - check my tutorial, i pretty much covered everything around parallel install and backup in it.

I have two installs, one originally 2.6.5 and the other originally 2.6.6. I didn't know about the parallel installs, which has been great learning, as with more stuff I've learned since using traktor professionally. While fixing one of my pc's was really easy, the other, where I grabbed 2.0.3 and updated was pretty basic too, not complicated at all.

What was complicated was rebuilding 3 gigs worth if playlists, but I play along with the deflection.

At the end of the day, my traktor is working, my playlists are back and saving properly I'm happy. I'll come back to the forum when I need it to be implied I'm an idiot again. Danke.

The same ticket number i posted 2 pages ago.

    NI-Ticket-System <ni-support@native-instruments.com>
    Subject: [Ticket#2013122710001759]

It seems that lessthan3 music magazine are interested in my idea.

Good idea, but not sure how we'd go about it. Obviously we'd need evidence, and while I know there are issues, we'd need to prove it before making claims. Will run the idea by my editors, see what they think.

Hi. Where did you find 2.0.3?

I just bought S4 and Traktor this week, so only have 2.6.6. I am having the same blank playlist issue!!

Please help, this is urgent, I have a gig coming up.
