I've got Scarbee. It's kool except how can I get it to stop playing when I take my finger off the keyboard? It drones on forever! I poured over the manual. No clue. It really messes with Abelton, I can't get it to stop when switching tracks or scenes.

The basic 'stop' command is quite straightforward - firstly, make Kontakt's virtual keyboard visible so you can see how and where its keyswitches are assigned. You'll see a pink keyswitch (on middle C) - this is your 'stop button' - so all you have to do is hit middle C and Funk Guitarist will stop playing. So your sequence will need to include a 'middle C' sent to Funk Guitarist whenever you want it to stop. Of course that's maybe not as simple as it sounds when using Ableton if you're changing scenes spontaneously - sometimes you might want F.G. to carry on playing across a scene change, and sometimes not. I don't know Ableton at all, but I guess you'd have to prepare different 'scene versions' with and without the 'stop' note as part of them.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks

    Thanks Korky!

I figured it out earlier but thanks anyway. In order to change clips in Ableton you need to add that 'stop' note. But, in the graphical sequence edit window you also need to turn off quantize, shorten the the end of the last note in the sequence, AND then add the stop note. The stop note can be as short as you like BUT it must overlap the last note of the sequence just a bit! A lot of BS if you ask me. They need to change that!

Glad you got it sorted, Hawky. The hoops you have to jump through to add the stop note in Ableton sound just a tad irritating, though! But at least it can be done.

I realised just after I'd posted the reply that the 'stop' note was the B below middle C, not middle C - but you knew what I meant to say!
