container needs banks and next/prev controls

The container is the most power ful tool since the split. It can be even more powerful if presets can be organized into banks, and presets can be searched with next/prev buttons (footswitch assignable).

This way, I can make a bank of all my favorite amp tones and cycle through them within the same preset (clean, rhythm, lead). Or cycle through any mod pedal in a custom modulation pedal bank.

This will save on cpu usage since it only recalls whatever is in the container preset - you don't have to load everything you plan on using all at once. you can make presets more modular.

You can create banks within the presets section but it's a little clumsy and buggy. There is a little drop down for banks, it has "Add Bank" (or something like that) in it. After adding a named bank, the bank shows up in the preset menu.

For saves, this is where it gets clumsy and buggy, using "Save As" always goes to the bank that it came from, if it's an edited container of amp tones that you emptied to create an environmental or effects patch, it's difficult to get it to save in the right place. If you use the drop down to select your bank, it saves in the original (currently selected) bank and does not appear under the selected bank. After repeated tries of save as with the bank pre-selected, somehow, it eventually saves to the right place.

I like your idea of consistency with preset saves, bank on top, preset on bottom. I think that most people who use container effectively use containers more than presets. Bumping them forward or back would be nice as well, esp. if your using a foot controller.

To float my boat a little, container was one of my feature requests and they did a really good job with it so I removed my old signature. I'm probably responsible for it being spelled with a C instead of a K as well.

p.s. A suggested fix for this problem, Add "Save In" to the menu at the bottom of the banks fly out menu.
i.e. Containers drop-down menu -> banks fly-out menu -> Save In

 

Ah. I found it. then all it needs is assignable next/prev buttons and we're there.
