Solved Control Vinyl can't calibrate

    Hi

I just bought a control vinyl (MK2) but I can't seem to make it work. I keep getting a diagonal line (blue and orange, see image). But it does recognizes the Vinyl MK2 and which side it's on. I just can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. My setup is as follows:

The turntable (PLX 500) is connected to a phono pre-amp, which send the signal to the inputs of my M-Audio M-track soundcard (https://m-audio.com/products/view/m-track)

At the Audio set up in Traktor I've set my driver and I can hear the tracks that I'm playing (I also hear the high pitched sound of the control vinyl). When I boost the input signal on my soundcard, Traktor gives me the "High Input" warning. And when I keep the inputs low, it callibrates as you can see in the screen.

I think it has to do something with the phono and line. But the Phono / Line setting in Traktor says "Not supported".

    What am I doing wrong?

    Cheers

    Tim

it seems you have a cable problem , or system cartridge is not doing good contact

Thanks for your reply. I will check the cartridge and cables, however I don't think that is the problem since normal records play without any problems.

I've checked the cartridge and tone arm (balancing and so on), vinyl records play flawless.

As for the cables, The only cable is the one from the turntable, directly into the soundcard. I skipped the phono pre-amp and used the internal pre-amp of the turntable. I still get the diagonal line.

With phono signal as input I get the low input, check phono/line message. And when I increase the input gain off my soundcard, the diagonal line only gets larger.

With line signal as input I get the high input message, and when I lower the input gain the diagonal line gets smaller.

So it reacts like you think it should, it only doesn't become a circle... And it still recognizes the correct vinyl and side.

    calibrate phono direct, 90 gain.PNG calibrate phono, 0 gain.PNG calibrate phono direct, 60 gain.PNG

Edit: Yesterday it worked for a moment, still with the diagonal line, but it worked. Now when I start my system up, with exactly the same setup and settings, it doesn't work anymore and the diagonal line is grey now..

I've always had a "high input" warning flash up when calibrating but continued to play sets for hours without any issues on the following hardware.

Technics 1210 mk2, leads have been changed on 1 of them due to old age with both running Ortfon concorde Elektro which are refreshed as required.

    Denon dnx1600 mixer

    S4 MK3

I've fixed the problem. It was a driver issue. Now working with the Asio4all driver.

    Thanks all for the help!

Please can I ask what may be a stupid question?

It seems like you can play timecode vinyl on decks (1210's) straight into the S4 Mk3, and I can hear the tone playing but it just won't calibrate.

Do I have to buy some other gadget/interface for Timecoding to work? I asked several people in advance of buying it and they all assured me that I didn't have to buy a gadget, or indeed have to buy a license (like Serato would, without it being free with one of their mixers), but I'm starting to doubt my sanity, as I keep getting mixed messages.

Happy to buy a Traktor control vinyl set if needed, would just rather not have to if not necessary.

Anyone who’s trying to troubleshoot their issues should at least post the hardware being used and computer specs.
