    Hi

I'm wondering if it's possible to set the keys of a computer keyboard to play each cell in Battery. Every now and again when I tab to battery, and I press some random keys on my keyboard, it will play a cell for each key. This stops and starts and doesn't always work.

So I was wondering can you assign a computer keyboard key to a specific cell?

(Also - I thought the 'Learn' button might do it - by clicking learn and then typing a key, but that doesn't work).

    Thanks.

    Using a midi keyboard

    Hi

How about a midi keyboard? Perhaps if it's not possible to control via a computer keyboard - can you use a midi keyboard to kind of 'play' the drums on?

Therefore, if you reading this have a midi keyboard: does the 'learn' button work for you to assign a keyboard key to a cell and trigger that cell on your keyboard?

    Thanks,

    jo.

It is possible to play cells with the computer keyboard on some DAWs. However depending on your DAW this differs a whole lot. In Logic for example you can activate this by hitting caps lock. I can't recall in Ableton Live but I am pretty sure this also works. In Pro Tools however this is not available.

Can anyone add availabilites in other DAWs?

When using Battery in standalone mode you need to enable the option "Use computer keyboard for Playback" in the options menu. There you can also set some parameters for the playback. As I don't really use it I can't tell you if there is also a switch for getting more octaves on the computer keyboard than there are when it's activated. (Sounds kinda weird... I hope you understand what I mean.)
