I have seen Vocator at a bargin price and would love to buy it but I refuse to buy software that uses challenge response copy protection. I DO NOT support piracy but I feel legitimate users are getting punished by this system. I love my FM7 (among others) I can format my hard disk and just reinstall from CD no need to go online and get a code which will only work twice. This is crazy to me and I won't be buying any software with this protection even though I have read of a work around for this involving drive imagining software. Can anyone tell me if Vokator use's NI's online registration process ie

After installation a System ID is created using information from certain components of the computer: the CPU family, startup disk, operating system and the date of installation. With the help of a convenient registration application (Registration Tool - see illustration) included with all NI products, the customer authorizes the System ID with Native Instruments. Next the customer receives the Authorization Key (several-digit number) per email, which is then copied into the Registration Tool to complete the permanent authorization.

If it does I won't be buying it.... I know all there newer software does.

My copy of vokator just asks for the cd every now and again, like battery does. Don't know if this has changed (or will change with an update like it did with reaktor and kontakt)

    Hello,

Vokator is authorized via CD request when starting for the first time and a serial number request. That is all with Vokator.

however, the new registration system (as used by Reaktor, Reaktor Session, Absynth, Kontakt 1.5, Kompakt, Intakt, Traktor 2.5) allows as many keys as you want. But you have to notice:

    - you get two keys withoug further notice

    - to get further keys older keys have to be deactivated before. Once a key was deactivated for a certain system no further key will be provided for *this* system

detailed information can be found here:

    http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?newregistration_us

you can manage your registrations / authorizations (e.g. disabling no more needed keys) here:

-> click on "manage authorizations / registrations"
