I'm converting presets from Emu Emulator X
over to Kontakt 3, and I'm getting the hang of
the Kontakt paradigm, for the most part.

One thing i can't figure out, is how to configure ONE
Bank (i.e patches 00 to 128) for channel slots 1-16,
(sort of in a General-Midi configuration-if you want to
    think of it that way).
Now for context, -this is the way Emu-X works naturally -
you have one big BANK, and all the channel slots 1 thru 16 work from that Bank, .

The way Kontakt works as I see it, you have
channel slots 1-16, and they EACH have their own BANK
they can individually configure for each slot.

Well, I would like to set up one Master Bank that I could
draw on (send program Change messeges), for each
slot- without creating duplicate patches, thus eating up
    RAM unnecessarily.

Is there any workaround for this in Kontakt 3.
    Is it even possible?
    Any help appreciated!

    (Otherwise, I really like K3!)

What you should do is this:

Open a new bank, and drag all your patches (1-128) into it.

Save the new bank in "patch only" format. This will create an .nkb file, but it will not contain the samples used -- it will only refer to the original copy of the samples. Therefore, it'll be a very small file.

Then you can load that one .nkb file in 16 times and make sure each one is responding to unique MIDI channels (1-16).

That would accomplish what you're looking for.

If this is the way you always want to use Kontakt, you may then want to save the 16 identically loaded .nkb files as a multi (.nkm). Again, save it as "patch only" so that it doesn't duplicate all the samples and waste hard drive space. Then you can instantly load all 16 instances of the same bank with one click in the future.

Update: I tried it, and yes, it works pretty well. :)
The only thing to remember is,-as you re-configure banks with new patches and edits ect... you have to re-re-update the master bank slot (ch1). and then re-instantiate ch's 2-16.
    Not a big deal really!
    Again many, many thanks!
