You can load them but not directly, load them once by open kontakt in kk like you described, then you can save it as a kk user preset. Komplette kontrol is a host for vst instruments like kontakt sampler that loads the file you need but komplete also handles, organizes knobs in rows of 8 so you can use it with kk keyboards who have 8 knobs. So everything is already mapped and, you can open kk presets withch can contain different vst instruments but all are basses for example - that way you can browse through all bass sounds no matter what instrument. And you don't have to load massive check for bass sounds then kontakt check for bass sounds, you can seemlessly browse and load them.

So kk is the "container" for vsts and can not open its sounds directly. It loads a snapshot/kk Preset from that instrument that then loads, in your case, the monolith.
Hope that helps even a bit

    thanks uwe, that does help.
I do understand about KK being the host for Kontakt etc.
I guess what I'm realising is that there currently isn't a solution to have all your sounds in one place and load them into KK because it doesn't like aliases or monoliths.
Perhaps its something they could add in the future.
Im in discussions with them now so will report back on what I find.
cheers for your help, much appreciated.

As Goon said - that's exactly the purpose of komplete kontrol.

Here is a video that explains it really good and understandable.

Is there any workaround to getting KK to work on OSX Monterey at this time?

it is nice this sees other VST plugins... But ... first I could not create the library from reason... I used logic and then reason could see the library. It saw all plugins but one which is indeed good... last night mucking around I used the browser to find various sounds... I found that It can not open the VST plugin Obsession, even though it sees the patches... it sees Obsession but is unable to open the plugin. I fire up the plugin without Komplete Start and have no problem... I have countless plugins and don't really know how many plugins this affects. So to me this was a warning sign and makes me hesitant to even use Komplete Start since I have no idea what plugins will load and which will not, when I find a patch I like, hear the patch, but can not open the plugin to play said patch. To me this indicates some bugs still exist. Obsession stores sounds in the same place most of the other plugins store their presets, which in my brief excursion into Komplete Start can and do play. I will have to spend more time to find others that do not load and I am not completely convinced it is worth the time, if this occurs with other VST plugins. Hopefully 6.3 will iron out the bugs when it inevitably comes. Running Mac Catalina latest version

can you clarify what you mean by “I found that I cannot open the Plugin Obsession”? Do you mean from the browser or from the dropdown of the instrument slot of KK.

have you installed the VST2 version of Obsession? KK does not support VST3 for third party plugins (non-NI).

The KK browser does not automatically create NKS presets for Non-NI plugins, you would need to load the plugin into the instrument slot, select a preset and then go to File—>Save As. At that point an NKS preset is saved that can be loaded from the browser.

yes it is VST 2, and it was trying to open it from the dropdown menu when you select for example sequences or bass in the menu...I was confused because the 36 Arturia plugins I have work (on a quick check just now, their plugins do indeed have native instrument nksf files in their preset folder already >which is a bonus) so... if I understand correctly... I drag the instrument from the list of instruments listed( or perhaps double click the instrument) and then save save the presets using the save as approach.? correct? I will indeed check this tonight. Boy oh boy I have 1000's of such patches to save that way if this process works. Thank you for your reply. This is all quite new to me since I only installed Komplete Start a few days ago. I appreciate your assistance and explanation which does indeed make sense... I will report back with further questions if that process does not work.... it is nice to have all the patches in one plugin that makes searching types of patches a lot easier.,.. Arturia has a similar function but only for their plug ins.

Yes you need to click the VST from the dropdown you want to load, load up a preset in the plugin then save…unless NKS presets are included, you have to save each preset one at a time. It is a daunting and time consuming task that is not for the faint of heart.

Yeah then this will also not do the tagging or the preview samples which is even more time.

If you have other VSTs you can check in my signature for libraries already created with all this done (Including Analog Lab which is the only Arturia VST not NKS compatible), may save some time, or make a suggestion if you have other plugins that I do not have available and I can look into these, tho most of the sales have just finished. I've developed a number of different techniques for getting all the required info out of plugins into NKS format over the last 7 years and doing it 1 by 1 manually is an honest nightmare as I have also had to do that too as not every plugin is possible to script a method easily (Spectrasonic Sonic Extensions I'm looking directly at you!!!!).

ok... I did a quick test... not all my VST show up as I had thought( it is kind of hit and miss for VST plugs)... What is strange is Synapse shows up... Both of their VST plugs show up, The Legend and Obsession... The Legend plays all patches fine without save all, Obsession can not be loaded period, but it plays sounds from drop down menu, and it has .nksf files that should work. Going to have to do some research on creating the library since Obsession nksf files are in a different location. Even If I drag and drop those files ,it says Obsession can't be loaded. Perhaps it is an issue with that plug in... Iron from Ujam loads and patches load fine and play fine without the save as approach,(yet VG-Carbon from Ujam doesn't show at all .) Both Waldorf VST I own, and also Spitfire Audio plugs work as well without save as process... Going to have to do more research but this is confusing to me. I don't have to save as patches for VST plugs that will load, strangely enough.
Lol... and for some reason Zebra 2 shows up yet I don't own it
Edit... as I was typing JesterMgee posted... thanks will check your link ! Really... Analog lab doesn't show... that is weird

I believe the reason is because Analog Lab is basically like Komplete Kontrol in that it is a preset/sound browser specifically for the Arturia instruments and designed I believe for their own keyboards to use so either they didn't want to make it work with KK and undercut their own integration or deemed it unnecessary/too difficult. I've made it NKS because it is well worth having as an NKS library but is pretty big, 9000 presets I believe
